The Mexican fighter, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez shared an image on his Instagram account where he wishes a speedy recovery to his Kazakh colleague, Aidos Yerbossynuly, one of his sparrings, who suffered a brutal knockout against the Cuban boxer, David Morrell, in a fight held in Minneapolis this Saturday, November 5.

In his message, the Mexican boxer wrote: “You are in my prayers brother”.
Aidos Yerbossynuly’s critical condition
According to ESPN journalist Dan Rafael, after the fight the 30-year-old fighter was admitted to the Hennepin County medical center in Minneapolis and the studies he underwent showed a brain bleed, so he underwent emergency surgery and doctors decided to induce a coma to avoid further brain damage.
The unfortunate event occurred during the last round of the stellar fight, held at the Armory. The Cuban fighter punished the Kazakh boxer during the 12 episodes and knocked him down on a couple of occasions. In the last episode he received a powerful hook to the jaw that “disconnected” him and he fell to the canvas, immediately, the referee stopped the fight.
After the knockout, Yerbossynuly had difficulties to get up and return to his corner. His opponent even helped him stand up and walk, in a dramatic scene that went viral on social media.
However, the Kazakh fighter’s promoter shared on social networks a statement in which he assured that the fighter was in good health: “Doctors said he is in normal shape and we are sure he will get better soon. According to the doctors, there is no threat to his life and he will be monitored for two weeks.”
The link between Aidos Yerbossynuly and Canelo Alvarez
Yerbossynuly, 30, is a prominent fighter in his country, he served as Canelo’s sparring partner for the third fight against his compatriot, Gennady Golovkin, which was held last September in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Aidos Yerbossynuly came into his fight against David Morrell with a more than respectable record, undefeated in 16 fights, with 11 knockouts.
