Speaking to the media after her exit from Wimbledon, the first question she was asked was about her former partner Nick Kyrgios, who is set to face court in August over assault allegations. The reporter questioned “You were in a relationship with Nick Kyrgios for some time. You’re aware of the allegations that have been made and investigated by the police in Australia. What was your experience of being in a relationship with him?” While Ajla replied “I’m not really aware of exactly what’s being said about whatever his past relationship and the allegations. I don’t know what it is.” Again the reporter asked, “He’s been summonsed for domestic violence against a former partner to a court in Canberra.” Ajla answered “It’s been a while since our relationship ended. Obviously, I’ve always kept my relationship very private. I would like to keep it like that. I’m definitely against domestic violence. I hope it gets resolved…but yeah, I mean I haven’t had that experience with him.” After the exchange, Tomljanovic took to Twitter to air her frustrations, “Quite disappointing that after almost two hours of playing my quarterfinals that that was the first question the journalist chose to ask me, and never proceeded to ask anything match related. Glad to see headlines mostly about that now. Do better.”

The 29-years-old, Ajla Tomljanović (born 7th May 1993) is a Croatian-Australian professional tennis player. On 21st February 2022, she reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 38. On 5 January 2015, she peaked at No. 47 in the doubles rankings. On the ITF Circuit, she has four singles and three doubles titles. Before 2014, she played for her country of birth, Croatia. Ajla took birth in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia to her father, Ratko Tomljanovi (Croatian handball player), and her mother, Emina. Her older sister, Hana, played tennis for the University of Virginia. When she was six years old, she started playing tennis, and when she was thirteen, she moved to Florida to begin her training. In January 2018, Tomljanovi received citizenship in Australia.
