Armie Hammer has been back in the news lately.
And we probably don’t need to tell you that it’s not because his life is back on track.
No, if the latest updates on the disgraced former A-lister are any indication, Hammer’s situation will be getting worse before it gets any better.
First, we learned that Hammer is working as a timeshare salesman at a resort in the Cayman Islands.
Probably not the career path the actor envisioned for himself when he was starring in Hollywood blockbusters a couple of years ago.
Anyway, things got even worse for Armie last week when the first trailer for House of Hammer hit the internet.
The three-part Discovery+ docuseries will focus on the many allegations of sexual misconduct that have been lobbed at Hammer in recent years.
Not surprisingly, Hammer is not thrilled to be the subject of a multi-part series that promises to expose his many misdeeds, a la R. Kelly.
And insiders say the trailer was released just as Armie began to believe that his life was on the upswing
One source tells Entertainment Tonight that “life has definitely humbled” the embattled actor in recent months.
The source also said that “the trailer for House of Hammer dropping is not ideal because Armie has been trying to make major amends,” adding:
“Armie went to rehab and has spent a lot of time with Robert Downey Jr. and learned from him.”
The insider notes that Hammer has been working to bring his family back together and “has been focused on spending time with his children and [estranged wife] Elizabeth and trying to right his wrongs.”
“The trailer dropping feels like a huge step back,” the source explains, adding:
“It’s difficult for him to have this be aired out again in the public eye episodically since a family member of his is involved.”
The source says Hammer”has been bouncing back and forth between L.A. and the Cayman Islands, and he had apparently been hoping that the worse was behind him.
“It has been a struggle for him to have this narrative about him re-emerge,” the insider adds.
The family member that the source referred to is Armie’s aunt Casey Hammer, who took an active role in producing the documentary.
“I know my grandfather had a dark side. I saw my father’s dark side first-hand. And I’ve seen my brother’s dark side, it was like a monster unleashed. Now it’s Armie Hammer,” she says in the trailer.
“I’ve let the Hammers control me my whole life. It’s time to stop. I refuse to be silenced. My name is Casey Hammer, and I’m about to reveal the dark, twisted secrets of the Hammer family.
“On the outside, we were a perfect family, but magnify Succession a million times and it was my family,” she continues, referring to the dysfunctional Roy family from HBO’s acclaimed drama.
“If you believe about making deals with the devil, the Hammers are top of the totem pole. Every generation in my family has been involved in dark misdeeds, and it just gets worse and worse and worse.”
The doc also features appearances by two of Armie’s accusers, Courtney Vucekovich and Julia Morrison.
Vucekovich explains that her relationship with Hammer was “all was perfect” at the start, “but then things change” as he “pushes your boundaries a little bit at a time.”
Julia Morrison shares a text she received from Hammer that reads, “I have a fantasy about having someone prove their love and devotion and tying them up in a public place at night and making their body free use and seeing if they will f**k strangers for me.”
Hammer has denied the allegations against him.
House of Hammer is set to premiere on Discovery+ on September 3.
