This month, Kevin Federline has repeatedly attacked Britney Spears.
He has attacked her relationship with her sons. K-Fed has also condemned her social media posts.
In the wise, out-of-context, meme-able words of Demi Lovato: “Get a job. Leave her alone.”
That might be too much to ask of Federline. But why is he taking all of these shots at her now?
We have been covering Kevin Federline’s weird, extremely public attacks on his ex since they began.
Frankly, we’re feeling pretty K-Fed up about it.
It’s hard to define what Federline’s worst take, but defending the conservatorship is a strong contender.
ITV has been teasing its lengthy interview with Federline.
This includes his claim that the conservatorship, which robbed Britney of her human rights for 13 years, “saved” her.
He even defended her widely reviled father, Jamie Spears.
“Jamie Spears came to me and was like, pretty much, I don’t know what to do, I want to help,” Federline claimed.
“I saw a man that really cared and really cares about his family,” he alleged, “and wanting everything to be OK.”
Jamie Spears managed Britney’s money and personal life, paying himself a six-figure salary while controlling her career.
Let us not forget that Britney’s conservatorship did more than ban her from marrying or planning her own vacations.
The conservatorship barred her from removing her IUD. That is forced sterilization. It’s a human rights violation.
Britney could not choose her doctors or medications. She has described her father “punishing” her with institutionalization over her career choices.
Another twisted comment that Federline made was using their teen sons against Britney.
Britney posts thirst traps on social media.
Like so many things about having a mom, that may be awkward for Sean Preston and Jayden James.
“I apologize for them, to them, for them because I can’t imagine how it feels to be a teenager, having to go to high school,” Federline said vaguely.
“Who knows how many people ask them about it or talk to them about it?” he insinuated.
“I try to explain to them look, maybe [it’s] just another way she tries to express herself,” Federline then claimed.
“But it doesn’t take away from the fact that what it does to them, it’s tough,” he alleged.
It’s a little hard to imagine the boys being the butt of jokes if the punchline is “Britney Spears is your mom.”
Also, shaming women for their posts and behavior because they’re mothers isn’t just rude — it’s misogyny.
Britney’s husband, Sam Asghari, has publicly responded to Federline’s digs by saying what most of us were thinking.
“Even if there was truth to her kids being ashamed of their mother’s choices and positive body image,” he began.
Sam continued by pointing out: “They wouldn’t be the first teenagers embarrassed of their parents.”
Then, Federline made a series of vague claims about Britney’s sons and their relationship with their mom.
He alleged that they are “not seeing” her “right now,” and have not for “months” after skipping her wedding.
“There’s a lot of things that were going on that they just didn’t feel comfortable with,” Federline added.
What does that mean?
He certainly won’t tell us. Or if he will, he has chosen to instead keep things painfully vague.
Is his intention to let people fill in the gaps with their own imaginations? That can be more effective than making an explicit claim, after all.
Meanwhile, Federline has been putting Britney on blast and seemingly violating their sons’ privacy.
For example, he posted a throwback video to when the boys were tweens and arguing with their mom.
At the time, she had confiscated one of their phones. It remains unclear what this video proves.
The only thing that it seems to demonstrate is that Britney has done more to respect her sons’ privacy in all of this than he has.
Britney has vaguely acknowledged that “raising teenage boys is never easy.” Generally, she’s right.
She did lament “hateful” behavior on the part of her sons after they spent less time around her during visits.
That’s all messy … but none of it explains why Federline is pushing all of this.
Our best guess is that he is trying to promote the interview, causing a splash on social media to hype it up.
Federline has spent a good 15 years or so using Britney’s name and their connection through their sons. This is nothing new for him.
