Byron Bay locals have been left outraged after countless bags of rubbish and empty bottles were left strewn across one of their picturesque beaches.

One resident took to social media to rant over the dozens of plastic bags filled to the brim with empty bottles, alcohol packaging, shoes and even a beach chair.

‘Thumbs down for our second beach party by backpackers,’ the woman wrote alongside a photo of the bags of rubbish resting against a block of public toilets.

Footage of a recent bush party has been slammed by social media users who claimed the party-goers left bottles and cans behind after the rave

‘No respect for Arakwal Country or our community when they leave broken glass and rubbish everywhere.’

The Instagram post was quickly flooded with comments from outraged locals and Australians alike who criticised the people who had abandoned the eye-sore.

‘What the hell? What is WRONG with people? No respect and no care whatsoever,’ one user commented.

‘Privilege and entitlement at work,’ a second person agreed.

‘Shame on them. Disrespect of the highest kind!’ a third wrote.

The piles of unsightly rubbish comes after three weeks of Schoolies celebrations which drew thousands of Year 12 students to the coastal town earlier this month.

Non-stop partying in Byron Bay’s pubs and clubs commonly spills out onto the surrounding beach and bushland where wild ‘bush doofs’ are hosted.

The bush party was overwhelmed by eager attendees and spilled out onto the sand, with DJ decks, light systems and even police officers seen at the rave.

TikTok users were quick to ask the party organisers if they cleaned up after the doof, while others pointed out the impact on the environment.

‘Show us you cleaning it up afterwards,’ one man commented.

‘Great another spot ruined with rubbish, smashed bottles and all the vegetation f*****, have these on your own properties,’ a second wrote.

‘There were bottles and cans everywhere in the nature reserve but at least you had a good time,’ a third said.

‘It’s all fun and games until rubbish is left everywhere, bottles and glass all through the grass and spot ruined,’ a fourth agreed.

Daily Mail Australia have contacted NSW Police for comment.
