NEWARK, New Jersey (WABC) — Two teenagers were rushed to the hospital after being shot in Newark on Thursday, according to authorities.
The shooting happened just before 3 p.m. at South 11th Street and South Orange Avenue.
Witnesses told Eyewitness News that the shooting stemmed from some sort of dispute inside a small pizzeria.
Officers found two victims shot inside the location, a 15 years old boy and a 14-year-old girl.
One was shot in the arm, and the other was shot in the torso.
Both victims have been taken to University Hospital for treatment and each is reportedly in stable condition, according to officials.
Police are searching for the shooter, but it’s not clear who fired the shots.
Residents described their frustration with violence involving kids.
“Everyone has kids out here. Our kids have to grow up,” resident Jeffrey Gilliam said. “How can our kids grow up if they are getting shot like this? It doesn’t make any sense.”
The shooting is under investigation.
