The Children Faced Two Tragedies

Army Sergeant Alberto Montrond served his country nobly, and while he was away at war in 2006, he tragically lost his life. The soldier’s wife, Christl, and her four kids were heartbroken and tried to pick up the pieces after the painful loss.

Nazeraeh thanked everyone involved from the bottom of her heart. The 22-year-old also said she believed her mom was up in heaven crying because her babies were finally taken care of.

Fifteen years later, in 2021, the family came face to face with loss again. This time the children’s mother passed away due to health issues, leaving the kids orphaned. At only 22, the eldest child Nazeraeh became the leader of their home overnight.

The Eldest Child Looked After Them

Nazeraeh did her best, but it wasn’t easy. She worked and studied full-time while trying to provide for her siblings. In between classes for her college course in Health Sciences, she did everything she could to be a mom and dad to her younger brothers and sister.

The four siblings moved around constantly, and the kids were often uprooted from their social circles and schools. They had a tough time and longed for a place to call their own.

Despite everything they endured, Nazeraeh remained optimistic. She shared:

“I don’t want [my parents’ passing] to be the end. There’s so much light. There’s so much life!”

Light at the End of the Tunnel

When people learned of the siblings and their ordeal, they couldn’t sit back and do nothing to help. Many businesses, groups, and individuals were moved by their story and wanted to assist in any way possible.

In collaboration with “Building Homes For Heroes,” a project was started to provide the siblings with a permanent and fully paid-for home. In August 2022, on their late mom’s birthday, they received the keys to their new forever home.

Their New Home

The 1,762-square-foot townhouse was ideal for their little family and gave them much-needed stability. Sean Strickler, President of the West Florida Division of PulteGroup, stated:

“Everyone involved in this project knows what having this new home means for the family. We hope Naz, her brothers and sister make many new memories in their new home.”

The Siblings Were Overjoyed

Nazeraeh was thrilled to have a home, and she was delighted that it would allow her brother to finish his last two years of high school in the same place.

Her sister and another brother would also complete their education in one place, and it made Nazeraeh’s big-sister-heart sing.

A heartwarming video displayed the siblings seeing their home for the first time, and they were speechless. The group walked through the three-bedroom house and marveled at the space and the gifts provided by donors.

Nazeraeh thanked everyone involved from the bottom of her heart. The 22-year-old also said she believed her mom was up in heaven crying because her babies were finally taken care of.

Praise For Nazeraeh

Many people honored big sister Nazeraeh, who took on the role of “legal guardian” without hesitation. On Facebook, Tampa City Councilman Luis Viera shared:

“I visited the daughter of the late Sgt. Montrond, Nazeraeh Montrond. She is just a remarkable young woman who is so very proud of the legacy of her late father (and her strong and late mother).”

“[She] has grown up fast. In talking with her, her love for her father and mother is obvious. She has with her a faith in God, strength and walks in the shoes of her parents and knows that they are proud of her,” his post continued.
