A crash on the A1M near Doncaster has caused more than five miles of congestion while police attend the scene.
South Yorkshire Police has closed one of the two lanes on the southbound carriageway near junction 36. The incident occurred before 5.15pm today (Thursday, November 23).
National Highways has said to expect 30 minute delays, issuing the following statement: “Lane 1 (of 2) is closed on the A1M in South Yorkshire southbound within J36 near Doncaster due to a collision. South Yorkshire Police are in attendance.

“Delays of at least 30 minutes on approach and five miles of congestion, please allow extra journey time. Thank you for your patience.”
Traffic data site Inrix issued the following update: “One lane closed and queueing traffic for six miles due to accident on A1(M) Southbound at J36 A630 Warmsworth Road (Doncaster / Conisbrough). Congestion to J38 (Red House).
“Travel time is around 25 minutes. Lane one (of two) is closed.” Scroll below for further updates.
