Adam Savage’s wife is experienced and licensed therapist Julia Ward. There is very little information about their love story as the couple has kept their relationship relatively private, although the host has shared a few details now and then.

They have been married since 2004 and will have celebrated nearly 20 years of marital bliss by 2023’s end. Before his marriage, Adam Savage had twin sons from a previous relationship making theirs a blended family of four afterward.

Adam Savage and His Wife, Julia Ward, Enjoy Cooking Together

Savage is a self-proclaimed avid cook. He once shared that he and Ward, whom he met online, often cook “elaborate meals” together. The kitchen is where the couple lets their creative juices flow, allowing the ingredients to guide what they make.

“We really do love playing with single variables, changing things, and learning how things work,” Savage explained. The trick he had learned and applied to their cooking was how adding or changing one ingredient could make all the difference in a dish.

“My wife was making a cauliflower soup, and it was kind of bland. I didn’t want to put anymore salt in it because I could tell it was about to go in the wrong direction. We tossed in a little bit of vinegar, and the whole thing just woke up. It was thrilling! I love that,” he gleefully recalled.

More about Julia Ward and Adam Savage’s Family Life

Ward and Savage have lived in the Mission District of San Fransisco for many years alongside Savage’s sons. The family of four adopted a pup they named Huxley the year the couple married.

Feeling Huxley needed a companion, they adopted another dog they named Maggie. Huxley, unfortunately, passed away, but Maggie is still a part of their family. Savage shared this glimpse of his family life on the debut episode of “WeWalkDogs” in February 2023.

It’s unclear when, but while living in the Mission District, Ward suggested that her husband find a warehouse space near their home where he could start his workshop. The former host found an old place that served as an auto shop in the 1920s.

“My wife’s brilliance was that she said, ‘You should make it both a shop and a space where you can display all the stuff you’ve got,'” Savage said of Ward, who he has said has “limitless faith” in him. He called his new establishment The Cave, where he often films his series, “Adam Savage’s Tested.”

When asked how his wife feels about his work, Savage explained that he rarely speaks of his job when he returns home. He likens their dynamic to a couple where the husband works a blue-collar job, except he returns home “bruised and dirty” and proud of his work.
