Aidan Turner’s Wife: The Actor’s Discreet Marriage to Caitlin Fitzgerald and Past Flames

Since Aidan Turner took on the leading role in the BBC smash hit “Poldark,” he’s become an international sensation. With his fame also came interest in his real-life romances, which fans can’t help but speculate about.

The Irish-born actor and producer began his career in theater and then made it to the small screen in series like “The Clinic” and “Being Human.”

It was his role as the loveable dwarf Kili in “The Hobbit” trilogy that first pushed him into the limelight. But it wasn’t until he transformed into Ross Poldark in the BBC’s reboot of “Poldark” that his name became a household staple.

After Lenora, the actor had a long-term relationship with a fellow actress Sarah Greene. Unfortunately, the couple split in 2015, yet the two remained firm friends.

Sometime after their breakup in 2016, Aidan passionately kissed Persian-Swede marketing manager Tara Derakshan. But only a month later, the Poldark star reportedly started dating artist Nettie Wakefield, who previously dated Tom Sturridge and was also linked to Robert Pattinson. Their love story was short-lived, as their busy schedules proved too challenging for their budding romance.

The woman who made the heartthrob settle down is also an actress. Aidan Turner is married to ‘Succession’ star Caitlin FitzGerald he met while filming the fantasy drama film “The Man Who Killed Hitler And Then The Bigfoot.” Caitlin is also known for starring in shows “Masters of Sex,” “Sweetbitter,” and “Inventing Anna.”

The two actors dated for three years before marrying in a secret Italian wedding in August 2020 with only several people present. However, the news of their nuptials only surfaced in March 2021. They were reportedly ‘madly in love’ and couldn’t wait to get married.

Despite being frequently pictured together during red carpet events, the couple is notoriously private.

In early 2023 Caitlin FitzGerald and Aidan Turner were separately pictured without their wedding rings, sparking speculation that their marriage might be in trouble. The couple didn’t address these speculations, and on the same day, Aidan was spotted with his wedding ring in place, effectively silencing the rumors.

Like his wedding, Aidan Turner kept the birth of his first child away from the media spotlight. The actor and his wife, Caitlin FitzGerald, welcomed their firstborn in early 2022. It’s unclear when exactly, but in February 2022, Caitlin FitzGerald was photographed pushing a pram in London.

The proud parents have chosen not to disclose their baby’s gender, but Aidan did give a small peek into his new life as a dad. He confessed that he had to give up his hedonistic lifestyle:

“I don’t go out at all anymore. I’ll be home by nine o’clock or in deep trouble for sure. Hangovers just aren’t worth it these days.”
