Alexis Roderick Is an Equestrian Owns Ranch with Spouse Billy Joel

After three marriages that came to an end, Billy Joel found love again with Alexis Roderick. The couple met when she was 29; he was over 30 years her senior. And they went from friends to more.

Roderick had a quiet life as an executive and out of the public eye before she met Joel and became known as the wife of a legendary musician.

While she maintained a low profile over the years, her famous husband often takes to social media to share glimpses of their life with children and as a family on the road during his tours.

Alexis Roderick Came into Billy Joel’s Life after a Heartbreak

Roderick had a job as a senior risk officer at Morgan Stanley– a wealth management company in New York– when she met her future husband at a restaurant in Huntington. She said:

“He was going to dinner. I wasn’t. And we were friends for a while before we started dating.”

Before Roderick became Joel’s fourth wife following his divorce from Katie Lee, she was a Stony Brook University graduate and majored in political science, economics, and Latin American studies.

Despite her husband’s fame, Roderick shies away from the media. However, she did reveal that the couple still frequented the restaurant where they met.

Alexis Roderick Kept Her Marriage to 32-Year Older Husband a Surprise

During their annual 4th of July celebration, Roderick and Joel surprised their family and close friends by saying, “I do.” The special occasion occurred at Joel’s estate on Long Island and came six years after they met in Huntington.

The intimate wedding ceremony included Joel’s daughter, fellow singer and songwriter Alexa Ray, and actor Kevin James. Joel’s long-time friend, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, presided over the wedding.

Guests were served a seafood feat, from prawns to pearl oysters and lobster, and enjoyed a speech delivered by Joel’s eldest daughter.

Joel welcomed Alexa Ray on December 29, 1985, during his second marriage to supermodel Christie Brinkley in 1985. His first wife was Elizabeth Weber Small, and they divorced after about nine years together.

After his split with Brinkley in 1994, Joel married Katie Lee a decade later. However, they went their separate ways on June 17, 2009.

On his and Roderick’s wedding day, he wore a dark-colored suit paired with a white shirt and blue tie while the bride let her blond locks loose in a strapless traditional white gown. The newlyweds married shortly before becoming parents, something Joel was looking forward to. A source said:

“Billy is thrilled to become a dad again.”

Happily married, Joel took to social media on July 4, 2022, to commemorate his and Roderick’s 7th anniversary with three pictures of the couple and a sweet caption that read, “13 years together, 3 days, 2 kids, 1 marriage and so much love.”

Following their 4th of July wedding, Joel and Roderick welcomed their first child just over a month later. Their eldest daughter, Della Rose Joel, was born on August 12, 2015, at 2:40 a.m., and their bundle of joy came into the world weighing 7 pounds and 6.5 ounces.

During an interview with Belfast Telegraphy, Roderick’s husband revealed that the married couple avoided the sleepless nights that came with parenthood after they welcomed Della, who was a good sleeper.

Roderick’s daughter also spent most of her days outdoors, her mother revealing that she barely spent much time in front of a TV. However, Roderick joked, “I’m sure she will soon enough.”

After Della was born, Joel revealed during an interview that he had plans to spend much of his time with his daughter, something he said his career allowed. He explained:

“I was thinking about that. I’m probably going to be able to spend more time with this kid than most people are able to spend with their children because I don’t have a regular job. I could be a stay-at-home dad for as long as I can stay alive.”

Roderick became a mother of two girls when she gave birth to their second daughter, Remy Anne, on October 22, 2017. Their second daughter was born weighing 7 pounds and 3 ounces.

In early December, Roderick and her family enjoyed a trip to the zoo in Sydney, Australia, which her husband documented on his Instagram. The famous singer shared pictures of the family of four enjoying their day feeding giraffes and petting other animals.

Alexis Roderick Is Spoiled by Her Husband Who Gifted Her a Million-Dollar Property

In 2018, Roderick’s husband added to his list of properties– which included beachside and waterfront Florida properties– and purchased her a ranch in Wellington, Florida. The singer spent $3.5 million for the five acres of land and had Bruce Springsteen and Bill Gates as neighbors.

The property includes a 12-stall barn with groom quarters, a tack room, five paddocks, and a regulation-size dressage ring with mirrors. Roderick owns several horses and is an accomplished rider.

She was active in the US Equestrian Federation, and a source revealed Joel bought his wife the property as an act of love. A source said:

“He just wants to keep making his wife happy. This purchase was all about her.”

In 2018, Roderick made a rare appearance when she was by Billy Joel‘s side during his 100th Lifetime Perfromance at Madison Square Garden.

Although she did not have social media at the time of writing, her husband shared on his account that the family spent his birthday on May 9 skiing. Billy Joel celebrated his wife’s birthday three days prior with an Instagram shoutout and a snap of the smiling couple.
