Amy Schumer Was Body Shamed for ‘Hurting People’s Eyes’ Yet Spouse Makes Her Feel ‘Loved Supported Always’

Amy Schumer and her husband, Chris Fischer, have been together for four years and welcomed a son together. Schumer admitted that she could never have welcomed a child so late in life without her husband’s support.

The couple celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary with their young son by their side this year. The happy couple have gone from strength to strength over the years and is always supportive of one another.

On February 13 this year, Schumer took to Instagram to wish Fischer a happy anniversary. She shared a black and white photo of the pair sitting on a lawn. Schumer smiled as her husband placed an affectionate hand on her back.

She shared a sweet caption with the post that showed how much they cared for one another. In the adorable post, Schumer said:

“Find someone who can stand by you. 4 years today. Love you, honey baby.”

While Schumer is publicly a funny person who always seems happy, behind closed doors, she suffers through fear and anxiety — like anyone else. Fischer loves to be there for her during those times.

A source close to the couple said that Schumer’s husband prides himself on being her support system and enjoys comforting her when she is having a bad day or just needs some extra love and affection.

Schumer has also often expressed her love and admiration for Fischer. She once told an Instagram user that her husband is her favorite person because he is kind, funny, exciting, and talented.

Schumer Realized Her Husband’s Support After Welcoming Their Son at 39

Schumer and her husband welcomed their son when Schumer was almost 40. She revealed in an Instagram post on her son’s first birthday what it meant to her to have Fischer by her side throughout the delivery.

The comedienne underwent a three-hour c-section to bring her son into the world and admitted that with her husband there holding her hand, she never felt alone. She then said he is “a husband and a father beyond [her] wildest dreams.”

Now that Schumer is a mother, she has shared her thoughts on motherhood several times. While she is grateful for her son and finds being a mother wonderful, she says she often feels vulnerable and guilty.

The couple is enjoying parenthood and has even been spotted with their son several times. The first time they were seen out was for a stroll in 2019, where both parents wore casual attire and looked happy with their son.

Schumer Was Shamed for Weighing More Than 140 Pounds

Schumer has often been criticized for her weight as she does not fit Hollywood’s beauty standards. She has dealt with it since becoming famous and has had to juggle it throughout her career.

She said that when starring in movies, she was told she needed to look a certain way to be in a film. She joked that she was told:

“If you weigh over 140 pounds as a woman in Hollywood, if you’re on the screen, it will hurt people’s eyes.”

While she did it once to fit into a role, she said she would never do it again. She preferred to do as she pleased because she was comfortable in her own skin and did not think she needed to conform to someone else’s ideas.

Schumer joked that she had once gained so much weight that she did not even fit into her coats. She was then asked if it bothered her if she gained or lost weight, and she quipped that she was blessed that she had constant judgment from people on the internet about her body.

Talking about how she handled things and what comments she encountered on social media precisely, she said:

“Somebody tweeted about me, ‘Amy Schumer’s body looks like a bag of mashed potatoes.'”

Although the comment was demeaning, Schumer took it lightly and simply said the statement made her crave mashed potatoes. However, she says she has accepted her body more with her husband’s love and support.

In an Instagram post, she talked about fat shaming and said she knew she was overweight and felt no shame about it. She said, “I am strong and proud of how I live my life,” before saying that people should laugh at their haters.
