WHAT WAS JOLIE’S MISSION?

Ukraine was one of her many stops last month, and the appearance of the actress, who has been a UNHCR Special Envoy for Refugees since 2011, was a sight for sore eyes, and it rejuvenated many — especially the kids.

According to TIME, the attack on the railway had been a deliberate attempt targeting mostly women and kids attempting to flee an incoming Russian offensive, and it claimed at least 52 people while wounding many more.

Jolie was moved by what she heard from the kids she spoke to, and one girl was even able to meet the actress one-on-one to tell her about a dream she had.

In a statement he shared over Telegram, the regional governor also revealed that Jolie met with refugees arriving at the central railway station in Lviv and with Ukrainian volunteers working hard to provide the new arrivals with medical help and counseling. He wrote:

“The visit was a surprise to us all. Plenty of people who saw Ms. Jolie in the Lviv region could not believe that it was really her. But since February 24, Ukraine has shown the entire world that there are plenty of incredible things here.”

On her visit, she also witnessed firsthand how traumatizing it was to be in a war zone when air raid sirens went off in the city.

A video shared by Bulgarian investigative journalist Christo Grosev captured Jolie hastily exiting a train station while the sirens were wailing in despair.

Surrounded as she was by her entourage, she hastened her steps as she left the station, but when a bystander who had been recording her asked if she was “scared,” she replied that she was okay.

MEET HER GROWN KIDS

Anyone who saw Jolie hanging out with the kids would know that her compassion comes from being a mother herself.

The talented star is a mother to six kids, two of whom she adopted before she got involved with actor Brad Pitt who later adopted them as his.

Her oldest child was named Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt, and he was born on August 5, 2001, in Cambodia. He was adopted by a then single Jolie at seven months old in 2002 and is now a teenager at Yonsei University in South Korea.

Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt is Pitt and Jolie’s first biological daughter, and they welcomed her on May 27, 2006. The birth went down in Namibia, but she has been raised in the US ever since.

Pitt and Jolie’s youngest son was named Knox, and he is a twin who was born on July 12, 2008, in Nice, France.

His sister, Vivienne Marcheline, was born on the same day as him and is already famous for starring in a movie alongside her mom, even though she probably can’t remember that.

All of her kids were born outside the US but raised within it, and the actress shares a very deep bond with them. Perhaps this is why she was visibly moved by what was happening in Lviv during her visit.

Jolie‘s presence surprised many, and they could hardly believe that it was really her. She had great conversations with children and promised to return, giving them something to look forward to besides air raids.
