Auston Trusty is urging his Sheffield United team-mates to ‘do more’ in the wake of yesterday’s 3-1 loss at home to Bournemouth. The Blades were comprehensively beaten at Bramall Lane in a match that could have a huge bearing on their survival chances.

United kicked off the day a point behind 17th-placed Luton and four behind the Cherries and knew victory was vital to pull the visitors into a relegation scrap and boost their own chances. But with Luton also winning it turned out to be a day to forget for the home side.

The manner of the goals conceded again raised questions about the ease with which the visitors rattled in the goals, with individual mistakes proving costly once more. Trusty, who was one of the few Sheffield United players to come off the pitch with any credit, says ‘everyone has to do more’ with Burnley next up.

He said: “Everyone has to do one or two per cent more, anything you can give more we have to show it because we all need to do more, collectively and individually. We have to keep believing, we’ve had good moments so we have to keep going.

“I had a good feeling going into this game, on the back of two good performances for us and two good results. We’re disappointed, we didn’t set out for it to go this way and we’re disappointed. We set up to win and be aggressive and take advantage of every opportunity, it just didn’t go our way.

“We have to focus on the rest of the year and getting points and scrapping away. You never know how the year will go and how other teams will go. Yes it’s unfortunate and disappointing that we lost this game but we have to keep grinding and we have to keep going.”
