Avril Lavigne Is Still Close to Ex Chad Kroeger despite Getting Engaged to New Boyfriend Mod Sun

Canadian singer Avril Lavigne recently got engaged to her boyfriend, singer Mod Sun, but the award-winning talent still shares a close bond with her ex-husband. Take a look at their relationship.

Avril Lavigne has been in the public eye since she emerged as a teenage sensation with her 2002 album, “Let Go,” featuring the hit track “Complicated.” 

While things have been solid career-wise, Lavigne’s love life has been notably dramatic. The pop-punk princess has had several relationships and has been married twice, first to old friend Deryck Whibley and then to Nickelback vocalist Chad Kroeger.

Lavigne met her second husband, singer-songwriter Kroeger, in 2012 while they collaborated on her album, “Avril Lavigne.” The ex-couple hit it off pretty quickly. They agreed to marry after only one month of dating, with Kroeger keen to marry the famous star. 

The duo was married in July 2013 in a private ceremony in the south of France before embarking on a lengthy vacation in Portofino, Italy. However, by September 2015, the couple had declared their divorce, with their marriage legally ending several months later.

Lavigne shared a post on Instagram where she announced their split, adding that Kroger was bound to be a part of her life. She praised their union, noting that they would always deeply care about each other.

LAVIGNE GETS ENGAGED TO A NEW HEARTTHROB

Lavigne seems to have a soft spot for fellow musicians. After ending things with Kroeger, the “I’m With You” singer found love with the rapper Mod Sun. The lovebirds appear to be a great combination, both romantically and musically. 

Their collaboration track, “Flames,” gave their fans a deep glimpse of their chemistry. Lavigne has never been shy to enjoy public affection with her man and the couple made their red carpet premiere at the MTV VMAs in matching tartan.

Lavigne recently revealed that she was walking down the aisle for the third time. In a recent Instagram post, the singer announced her engagement to fellow rocker Sun. Speaking to People about her engagement, Lavigne described it as a memorable moment.

She said, “It was the most perfect, romantic proposal I could ever ask for. We were in Paris on a boat in the Seine River. We had a violin player, champagne and roses. It felt like time stood still, and it was just the two of us in the moment.”

The 35-year-old rapper proposed with a custom-designed heart-shaped ring set in a royal setting with tiny hearts from Beverly Hills’ XIV Karats. Lavigne confessed that she had always wanted a heart-shaped diamond and was thrilled to get it from the perfect partner.

Although the proposal was a total surprise, Lavigne said she always knew Sun was the special one. The couple seems to have forged a close bond and understanding since they first worked together.

LAVIGNE STILL SHARES A BOND WITH HER EX

Despite splitting more than three years ago, Lavigne and her old pal, Kroeger are incredibly close. Kroeger has been a huge help to the singer since her battle with Lyme disease.

Lavigne credits her ex-husband with inspiring her and helping her write songs for her albums. She told People about their relationship,

“He’s just always been a cheerleader of mine and always been such a huge fan. He’s in my corner, he’s on my side, and he’s always been really great.” 

Kroeger isn’t the only ex with whom Lavigne shares a bond. The singer remains close to her first husband, Deryck Whibley, and the former couple reportedly had dinner with Lavigne’s new man, Sun. Onlookers described the moment as peaceful and friendly. 

Sun seems to have no issues with his fiance’s strong ties with her old flames. So far, there are no exact reports on when the lovebirds will walk down the aisles. Fans have to keep their fingers crossed for the announcement.
