When it comes to awkward moments on the “Today” show, you might’ve noticed that many of them involve Matt Lauer. Well, here’s another one: In 2009 when Sandra Bullock stopped by “Today” to promote her film “The Proposal,” Lauer focused on her being nude in it. In fact, he brought it up at the very start of the interview.
“The major thing that’s changed since you were here last, I have now seen you naked,” he told Bullock before saying he has a shot of the nude scene on his device as a screensaver. “You’re naked for most of this movie,” Lauer went on.
But he wasn’t done, because he asked Bullock if it was hard to appear naked on film. Eventually, the once-respected journalist began speaking about other things concerning “The Proposal,” however, not before bringing up nudity one more time. “Did I mention you have a nude scene?” he asked the actor. “Pretty much from the time you opened your mouth,” she responded. Not surprisingly, Lauer was blasted for the interview on social media. Then when he was fired from NBC in 2017 for sexual misconduct, that interview, as well as his sit down with Anne Hathaway, resurfaced, and he was ripped all over again.
