Barry O’Leary, the former CEO and chief executive of IDA, passed away on October 13, 2022, at Lady’s Hospice, Dublin. He was 71 at the time of his demise.
Who is Barry O’Leary?
Barry O ‘Leary was the former chief of IDA Ireland. He began working in IDA in 1976 and worked for IDA Germany from 1983 and a year later became the director. In 2002 when he began working with Ireland, he became the divisional manager and IDAs executive. In 2008 he was appointed as the CEO of IDA, and after nearly working for 40 years, he retired in 2014.
He has also worked in other firms such as Citibank Europe, Targeted insurance opportunities and Zurich Insurance. He was married to Maiŕead and had two sons -Ciaran and Barry.
In October, Barry took his last breath at the age of 71. The reason behind his death is not known.
Many of his close friends have paid tribute to the former CEO. The current IDA CEO remembered his former boss, saying that he was impressed by Barry’s passion for work, and it’s because Barry’s contributed a lot towards the many.

The cause of Barry O Larry, who passed away on October 13, is not disclosed to the public. The former CEO passed away at 71 at Lady’s Hospice, Harold’s Cross, Dublin.
Barry O’Leary Obituary:
The funeral service of the former CEO of IDA, Barry O’ Larry, will be held on October 18 2022, at the Church of Holy Name, Beechwood Avenue, at 11 AM. The funeral service will be followed by burial which will take place at Kilternan Cemetery Park.
