The Apprentice has already been mired in controversy and it’s only been one episode.

The 2024 series saw another batch of rather hopeless business hopefuls back in the boardroom as they took on the task of putting on a team building exercise in the Scottish highlands.

Mistakes were made, including the serving of bottled water instead of booze for a ‘welcome drink’.

But the biggest cock-up of all was from Lord Sugar, say viewers, who fired the wrong candidate and made such a poor decision that they ‘want their Licence Fee back’.

At the end of the task, it was revealed that the girls team made a slender profit of just £123, but this was made to look a lot rosier when Karren announced that the boys had made a loss of £600.

But despite the fact Virdi is an events manager, that he was project manager and lost the task and lost £600, Lord Sugar somehow fired Ollie instead.

Ollie didn’t do a great deal but viewers still can’t believe Virdi was given a reprieve.

@maxlunc said; “Lord Sugar only kept #Virdi because he causes a bit of drama for the viewers entertainment. He’s arrogant and narcissistic”

@triss565 said: “Week one and controversy already. Sorry but Virdi was a rubbish project manager and Ollie was made the scapegoat. He didn’t bring Phil back in cuz he knew he would be able to stand his ground better and make mincemeat out of him. #TheApprentice”

@rochey1878 said: “#TheApprentice I shouldn’t be surprised by the sacking. He always does this s***. It’s never based on the tasks he’s already got his final few based on the business ideas.”

@katesantangeli said; “How the f****** did Virdi not go home??? PM of a team hosting an event and his business is all about hosting events??? Alan mate are u dumb??”#TheApprentice

@tomjebb8 said; “Wrong person was sacked. So Lord Sugar keeps the person who says he works in “events management” but cost Lord Sugar money in events”

The Apprentice returns next Thursday, February 8 on BBC One at 9pm.
