Bennett Armistead Schauer is the child of famous actress Laura Linney. Schauer, who is an only child, enjoys many privileges. His mother once revealed that, at a young age, Schauer already lived the dream of many adults.

When Bennett Armistead Schauer was born, his mother couldn’t stop smiling; the joy of welcoming her bundle of joy was endless. Schauer’s mother said that during her first year as a mom, her face was always sore because she constantly smiled at her son.

Bennett Armistead Schauer’s Birth Was a Surprise for His Mother’s Fans

January 8, 2014, was a special day for Linney and her husband, Marc Schauer, as the couple welcomed their first child, Bennett Armistead Schauer. Linney surprised her fans with the good news after she kept the pregnancy a secret for nine months.

During the lockdown amid Covid-19, Schauer was homeschooling, and his mother was in charge of his routine.

Linney’s representative spoke to PEOPLE about Schauer’s birth and said the mother and baby were happy and healthy.

Fans Didn’t Know Bennett’s Mother Was Pregnant with Him

While most of her fans thought she hid her pregnancy, Schauer’s mother disclosed the reason behind her silence two years after her son’s birth.

Linney, who gave birth at age 49, said she didn’t reveal her baby bump because she feared the risks of carrying a child at an older age. Schauer’s mom said she wanted to make sure her baby arrived safely:

“I was an older mother-to-be, and it had taken me a very, very long time to have a child. so I wanted to make sure that my child actually arrived and was safe and healthy.”

The mom of one insisted that she didn’t hide her pregnancy intentionally; she just thought it was the right thing to do for her family. Speaking about her son’s middle name, Schauer’s mother said she named her son after the man who played a huge role in her career.

When Laura Linney started her acting career, she landed a starring role in the 1993 classic Television miniseries “Tales of the City,” which is based on the novel “Tales of the City,” written by Armistead Maupin.

According to Schauer’s mother, her role in the drama series opened many doors in her acting career, and she’s forever grateful to Maupin for the opportunity he gave her. She said she holds Maupin in high regard and wants his name to guide her son.

Bennett’s Face Is a Secret, but His Hobbies Are Known

Even though Schauer’s mother is a public figure, she tries to keep her son out of the spotlight. As much as she has pictures of Schauer on her Instagram, his face is usually hidden, and he can only be seen from the back.

Although there’s little known about Schauer, his mother once revealed his hobbies and interests. She said that he prefers books over watching TV.

In one of her Instagram posts, Schauer’s mother shared pictures of spiderman drawings made by her talented son. From the sketches, one can quickly tell his favorite superhero.

During the lockdown amid Covid-19, Schauer was homeschooling, and his mother was in charge of his routine and had a well-planned schedule for him.

Schauer is a child with many privileges; besides going to the best schools and living the best life, his mother said that he also loves traveling:

“Fortunately, my son is a very good traveler. At five, he’s been all over the world with us already. I do worry about him, but he could care less.”

Bennett’s Mother Once Almost Turned Down a Role Because of Him

Schauer’s mother, best known for starring in the Netflix drama series “Ozark,” got engaged to Schauer’s dad in 2007, and the couple eventually tied the knot in 2009.

Motherhood is something that Linney cherishes. The actress once revealed that she almost turned down her role in “Ozark” because the shooting location was far from her home, and she couldn’t bear being away from her son.
