Bethany Joy Lenz gained prominence for playing Haley Scott on the wildly praised teenage drama series “One Tree Hill,” which premiered in 2003. She moved on to other projects when “OTH” ended in 2012.

However, the year “OTH” ended also marked the beginning of Lenz’s independence, as she announced her split from Michael Galeotti, her husband of seven years. Lenz had a difficult time after their divorce.

Bethany Joy Lenz Was Married to Musician Michael Galeotti for 6 Years

Lenz was previously married to Michael Galeotti, a former musician of Enation, a band based in Nashville, Tennesee. The band’s genres included alternative, pop-punk, and rock.

There isn’t much information about how Lenz and Galeotti first became romantically involved, but the couple tied the knot in December 2005. They supported each other’s careers throughout their marriage.

In addition, the TV actress and the musician were also business partners. In September 2009, they opened a restaurant in Old Town Battle Ground, Washington.

But in March 2012, the couple made headlines after Lenz announced on her now-defunct blog BethanyJoy.com that they were getting divorced. She would no longer carry the singer’s surname. The statement read:

“I’m sorry to say that Michael and I have decided to divorce.”

She said she and Galeotti would remain friends. She thanked the public for their continued support and expressed gratitude for their prayers during the challenging period. They finalized their divorce in May 2013.

Six years after her divorce from Galeotti, Lenz sparked romance rumors with “UnREAL” alum Josh Kelly.

Galeotti has kept a low profile since their split. He and Lenz share an only child, Maria Rose, born in 2011, just before their divorce. Lenz admitted the early years of their post-divorce were challenging.

The mother of one stated that it was only in 2016 that she began to feel comfortable in her skin and appreciate her growth as a woman. She added that it was also an “empowering” time for her.

She explained that she could live for herself without depending on someone, and her daughter appears to be the main reason for her happiness.

Lenz pointed out that making lunches for Maria and sending her off to school made her happy. She not only enjoyed being of service to her only daughter, but she also enjoyed documenting their life together.

Despite her private nature, Lenz occasionally posts adorable bonding moments with Maria on Instagram. She once shared beautiful photos of them inside a New York studio, on the street celebrating Halloween, and at a red-carpet event.

After Splitting from Michael Galeotti, Bethany Joy Lenz Was Linked to “Unreal” Alum Josh Kelly

Six years after her divorce from Galeotti, Lenz sparked romance rumors with “UnREAL” alum Josh Kelly. They were spotted together at a gala in Beverly Hills in December 2018, and the source reportedly stated the pair “seemed very cozy.”

A few days before the gala, Lenz posted a picture of her and Kelly celebrating their friendship on Instagram. The rumored couple was seen holding hands at a farmer’s market in June of the same year.

Reports of a blossoming romance between Kelly and Lenz persisted, but their status was never officially confirmed. Because of Lenz’s private nature, it remains unclear whether she dated Kelly.

Bethany Joy Lenz Once Opened Up about Whether She Had Romantic Feelings for James Lafferty

In addition to being linked to Kelly, Lenz was also linked to her “One Tree Hill” co-star James Lafferty. In an iHeartRadio interview in September 2021, Lenz opened up about her and Lafferty’s chemistry.

Lafferty starred in the series as Nathan Scott, the love interest of Lenz’s character, Haley James. Lenz had a good working relationship with him, which was why many viewers admired their on-screen pair-up.

Lenz revealed that she once had a “romantic dream” about her co-star, and she believed that Haley’s romantic feelings toward Lafferty’s character worked their way into her subconscious.

She went on to say that the fact that she and the actor had many kissing scenes in the TV show was also to blame for her romantic dream. Despite having the dream, she and Lafferty never dated in real life.
