As it turns out, the VMAs were the launchpad for Beyoncé and Taylor Swift’s future relationship — and possibly the beginning of the end of Beyoncé and Kanye “Ye” West’s. Allow us to explain. Although Beyoncé and West would remain friends for years to come, rumors of a feud started circulating after Beyoncé and Jay-Z failed to attend West’s 2014 wedding to Kim Kardashian. West, never one to bite his tongue, confirmed the news during a sit down with radio host Charlemagne tha God. “I was hurt about them not coming to the wedding,” said West. “I understand they were going through some things, but if it’s family, you’re not going to miss a wedding.”
Those “things” West referenced were related to Jay-Z’s alleged infidelity, which the couple addressed on their 2018 album, “Everything is Love.” As Refinery 29 pointed out, Jay-Z used the song “Friends” to seemingly speak on their feud with West. “I ain’t going to nobody for nothin’ when me and my wife beefin’. I don’t care if the house on fire, I’m dyin’, n****, I ain’t leavin’.” Interestingly enough, Beyoncé and her famous husband found the time to attend Taylor Swift’s 25th birthday party, which also occurred in 2014. Was this a coincidence? That much is unclear. However, Beyoncé and Swift’s bond would continue to grow in the coming years.
