When Bryce Dallas Howard’s sister, Paige, tied the knot with actor Tim Abou-Nasr, their father served as the ceremony’s officiant. Bryce also played a special role as the bridesmaid.

Several photos from the event made their way through social media, showing the outpouring of happiness everyone had during the celebration, including Bryce herself.

BRYCE HOWARD’S WEIGHT JOURNEY

Bryce has experienced extreme weight fluctuations over the years, starting with her 80-pound weight gain while giving birth to her son, Theo, in 2007. She said:

“Before Theo was born, I had been in good humor about my 80-pound weight gain, but I was now mortified by it. I felt I was failing at breastfeeding. My house was a mess. I believed I was a terrible dog owner.”

The actress dealt with postpartum depression, which made every day worse and worse. However, she overcame it and became a second-time mom in 2012. Although she did gain weight again, she was able to get rid of it within a year.

By the time she was cast for her role in “Black Mirror,” Bryce was fully equipped with the knowledge to accept herself, regardless of what size she was. So, she gained 30 pounds to fulfill her role as body image-obsessed Lacie.

Bryce decided to take on the challenge to show how her heroine was struggling to accept herself and love her body in the world of social media. Fortunately, the actress learned to appreciate and accept herself even more after the project. She said:

“Society puts all this scrutiny on women’s bodies, which in a way serves to make us go insane […]. If you allow your spirit to be broken by trying to conform […], you will be off track for your entire life.”

According to Bryce, our society has a shared agreement of specific figures to call beautiful or admire, even if there is no substantive rationale.

“It’s a truly superficial thing,” she said. Because of this perception, some women focus too much on their external appearance and lose sight of the more essential things in life.

The biggest lesson she learned from filming was that social media was a “cartoon universe” that showed a curated reality. Following her “Black Mirror” project, Bryce slowly lost the 30 pounds she gained.

Bryce’s journey towards motherhood influenced her in many ways, including an inspiration to direct a documentary, “Dads,” in 2020.

However, parenthood did not always come easy. While dealing with her postpartum, Bryce exhausted herself by giving her son milk without supplementation. At one point, she felt incompetent and spiraled down. Her husband became a source of strength and support until she got better.
