Charles Dance’s Wife: The Actor’s Previous Marriage to Joanna Haythorn and Other Romances

Charles Dance is known for playing strict, authoritarian characters and villains in several movies and TV series. Charles was born in 1946 in England to Walter and Eleanor Dance. He has a successful acting career spanning over four decades. The veteran actor who played alongside Peter Dinklage and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in “Game of Thrones” was once married for over 30 years, but his marriage didn’t stand the test of time.

Charles Dance Was Married to Joanna Haythorn for over 30 Years

Haythorn was Charles Dance’s wife for over three decades. The pair tied the knot in 1970 and called it quits in 2004. After the two divorced, the actor relocated to London after selling his house in Somerset. Charles’ divorce from Haythorn was quite a huge adjustment for the actor; during an interview, he said:

“I feel 35. I probably behave 25. It’s certainly been a period of change for me. Some of the time, I handled it well, and some of the time, I didn’t. It was difficult to get back into family life after being away.”

In an interview, the “Game of Thrones” actor, who found love again in his 70s, said that meeting Masi was one of the best things that happened to him while shooting the movie.

During their marriage, the pair had two children, Rebecca and Oliver Dance, though little is known about Charles Dance’s children.

Charles Dance Had a String of Younger Girlfriends after His Divorce and Even Planned to Get Married Again

Over the years, the veteran actor has been romantically linked to younger women. Before his divorce, he was linked to English actress Emilia Fox who was 28 years his junior. Charles was also rumored to be in a relationship with Sophia Myles from 2003 to 2005—Myles was 33 years his junior.

Charles also briefly dated former model Shambhala Marte, 26 years his junior. The actor’s most-known relationship was with his former fiancée, Eleanor Boorman. The pair had been together for a couple of years and even planned to marry but broke up shortly after Boorman gave birth to their first child.

According to reports, Charles was spotted hanging out with one of his ex-girlfriends within 48 hours after his daughter’s birth. Though it is unclear what led to their breakup, Charles’ friend revealed that their relationship was under strain and the split was amicable.

Charles Dance Is Dating Alessandra Masi, Who Is 20 Years His Junior

Charles met his Italian girlfriend Alessandra Masi in 2018 in Italy while on the set of the historical movie, “The Book Of Vision.” Masi, a former actress, was the film’s production manager then.

In an interview, the “Game of Thrones” actor, who found love again in his 70s, said that meeting Masi was one of the best things that happened to him while shooting the movie. “To be honest, it’s meeting Alessandra,” he said.

The lovebirds seem to have a fantastic relationship, and they occasionally step out together to attend different high-profile events. As a production manager, Charlie Dance’s girlfriend has also managed other projects such as “After the War,” “The Inn at the Edge of the World,” and “Edward Enderby.”
