Cindy is a famous drummer who has been playing alongside her husband in his band, “Santana.” She is also a vocalist, musician, and artist in her own right and released 11 albums of her own by 2020. Speaking about making music, especially within the jazz genre, she expressed:

“I think of playing [music] as controlled freedom…As you’re going along, you can change the color, the feel, the mood in different ways, or go off the chart and open it up to something new. Controlled freedom is an incredible discipline requiring a lot of focus. Improvisation like that is art in its highest form.”

CINDY BLACKMAN SANTANA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH CARLOS SANTANA

It was the spring of 2010 when the lovers-to-be, 13 years apart in age, played for the first time on stage together. However, they had met a few years earlier at a European festival when Cindy was touring with Kravitz.

Then, in 2010, the legendary guitarist proposed to Cindy onstage during a concert in Chicago. Sony Music reported that she said yes, and the crowd went crazy as the two locked lips. In a statement, Carlos expressed:

“Being in love is a gift from the universe, and the spirit and vibrations that come with it are infinitely powerful. I look forward to expressing that incredible energy through my music, and in helping to tip the balance toward more love in the world with what Cindy and I share.”

The duo married on a rainy December 11, 2010, in Maui. They weren’t phased by this weather, with Carlos later saying that rain or no rain, the sun would shine wherever he and Cindy went.

Cindy donned a customized silk dress from Zurich boutique Zoro for the ceremony, with almost 200 people in attendance. Music artists Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter were there, both of who played at the couple’s wedding reception.

The groom expressed his awe at these music artists’ performances, saying it took the wedding ceremony to a new level. After the two said their I do’s, they went on their honeymoon in Hawai, the beginning of their marriage, which has lasted just over a decade.

One sign of a healthy married couple is their respect and admiration for one another. Carlos certainly holds his wife in high regard, especially when it comes to drumming. He has stated that Cindy taught him much about the art of drumming and the legends associated with it, like Tony Williams and Art Blakey.

Not only that, but the prolific guitarist also pushed his wife out of her comfort zone, helping her to share her singing voice with the world. Cindy recalled the first time her husband suggested she make an album including her vocals.

She remembered how she quickly dismissed it. However, after some encouragement, she has become more open to the idea of singing, using different aspects of her musical talents on her 11 solo albums.

WAS CARLOS SANTANA MARRIED BEFORE?

Santana was married to Deborah Santana for over three decades, and they had three children together. When they divorced in 2007, the two cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.

Deborah released a memoir where she claimed that her ex-husband was guilty of infidelity. The musician had expressed remorse for these actions and attempted to be a better person.

Anne Stringfield is another hyper-talented and successful woman married to a famous artist, In this case, Steve Martin. Stringfield is a professional writer who has worked with big firms such as Vogue and the New Yorker, where she was a fact-checker.

Springfield is a private individual and prefers to keep away from the spotlight. She was born in the early 1970s in Florida and went to high school there. Eventually, she went on to attend Davidson College.

Martin met his second wife, 25 years his junior, when she was working as a fact-checker. This initial meeting was over the phone when she had called in to check one of his comedy pieces. The two had regular and ongoing exchanges for a year until they finally met face-to-face.

The couple said their I do’s in 2007 in front of almost 200 guests and eventually had one daughter named Mary in 2012, who they’ve managed, with effort, to keep out of the limelight. Stringfield still works as a professional writer and, according to her husband, is a great mother and wife.
