Hawkins, a Washington native, also gained fame after portraying a young Dr. Dre in the 2015 biopic “Straight Outta Compton.” Additionally, he appeared in the hit series “The Walking Dead” with notable cast members, including Norman Reedus and Danai Gurira.

Hawkins also portrayed Eric Carter in the 2017 TV drama “24: Legacy.” He also appeared in the 2021 film “The Tragedy of Macbeth” as Macduff opposite screen veterans Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand. The actor was raised in a family that deeply respected the law.
