Cormac Roth Was Tim Roth’s Youngest Son and a Talented Musician: Inside His Life and Premature Death

Tim Roth announced the death of his 25-year-old son, Cormac Roth. The musician had a rare form of cancer that was diagnosed in late 2021. He walked the red carpet at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of his dad’s movie “Bergman Island.”

Cormac Roth followed his famous father, Tim Roth, into the entertainment industry, but not as an actor. The younger Roth was a composer at the beginning of his career and scored music for an award-winning film.

The youngest Roth kept making music through his cancer battle and uploaded tracks with names like “AMBIEN” and “JUMP” on SoundCloud in early 2022. In his last post on Instagram, the musician celebrated other musicians on his feed.

Who Was Cormac Roth?

Michael Cormac Roth was a producer and composer based in Los Angeles. He graduated from a private liberal arts school, Bennington College, in Vermont. The composer was born in 1996 to actor and director Tim and stylist Nikki Butler, who has been married for 29 years.

The New York Post called him a “rock star on the rise,” and he released his debut EP, Python, in 2018. Months before his death, he posted collaborations with his friends, Niki Randa and Mckay Felt, on his SoundCloud account, per Hollywood Life.

He composed original music for the 2020 Spanish language dystopian thriller, “Nuevo Orden.” Also known as “New Order,” the film won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2020 Venice Film Festival for director and writer Michel Franco.

What Did Cormac Roth Die Of?

Cormac posted a video on Instagram of him playing the electric guitar, bald from chemo treatments, on July 14, 2022. The singer shared that he received a diagnosis of stage three germ cell cancer in November 2021.

Of late, the British actor reprised his role as Marvel villain, The Abomination, in “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.”

At the time of the post, the singer had lost 60 pounds and half his hearing. According to the National Library of Medicine, his form of cancer, extragonadal choriocarcinoma, is a “rare malignancy with a poor prognosis” in males.

How the Roth Family Remembers Cormac Roth

The Roth family announced on October 31, 2022, that the youngest member of the family, Cormac Roth, had lost his battle with cancer, two months shy of his 26th birthday, on October 16, 2022. In a statement to Variety, they said:

“The grief comes in waves, as do the tears and laughter when we think of that beautiful boy across the 25 years and ten months that we knew him. An irrepressible and joyful and wild and wonderful child. Only recently, a man. We love him.”

The family lauded the late singer for keeping his “wicked wit and humor” while fighting the disease, per E! News. His family and loved ones were with him when he passed away. The guitarist is remembered for being the “embodiment of kindness.”

Does Tim Roth Have Any More Children?

Tim Roth has two other sons, Timothy Hunter Roth with his wife Nikki, and Jack with his ’80s girlfriend, costume designer Lori Baker. Jack Ernest Roth was born on September 1, 1984, in London and is also an actor.

At eight, Jack almost got a credit as an extra in “Reservoir Dogs,” the 1992 Quentin Tarantino film starring his dad. But the famed director left the scene, where he is seen walking in the background, on the cutting room floor.

Like his dad, the young actor has no formal training for his chosen career path, per IMDb. He has roles in “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” and the upcoming series “The Burning Girls.” He dated actress Emma Appleton.

The senior Roth is a frequent collaborator of Tarantino. He has over a hundred acting credits and four significant projects in post-production. Of late, the British actor reprised his role as Marvel villain, The Abomination, in “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.”
