Interest in the ripped Hemsworth brothers from Australia is so strong that a fake fourth brother became a running joke in “The Good Place.” While there is definitely no Larry Hemsworth, the brother’s father, Craig Hemsworth, is a good substitute.

Craig Hemsworth is the man behind Hollywood’s hottest actors, Luke, Chris, and Liam. The family moved around a bit in the 90s and is settled in Byron Bay, Australia.

The curiosity surrounding the brothers has spilled over to their low-profile dad, who has been photographed in his daily life by the tabloids.

Who is Craig Hemsworth?

Craig was born in 1955 and has Irish, English, Scottish, and German ancestry. The outdoorsman is a social-services counselor and married to Leonie van Os, a teacher, and actress.

The couple has three sons who have gone into acting, Luke, Chris, and Liam. The siblings all bear a striking resemblance to their dad, as Dwayne Johnson pointed out in a comment on Chris’ 2021 Father’s Day post with his pop, “Wow, that apple did not fall far from that tree.”

He has a few other notable relatives. His brother-in-law Rod Ansell is the inspiration for the 1986 comedy hit “Crocodile Dundee.” Nephew Rob Hemsworth is an oyster farmer by trade and took part in season six of “My Kitchen Rules Australia” in 2010.

Craig Hemsworth’s Family Life

The Hemsworth family moved to a remote cattle farm a few years after the birth of their youngest child, where Craig worked in child protection services per Who Australia. The couple also ran the community center that housed the post office and general store.

The Daily Mail gave him the paparazzi treatment when he went for a shirtless stroll on the beach with his dogs.

The family later moved to Phillip Island in Victoria, but their time in the bush greatly impressed the brothers. Eldest brother Luke told Jimmy Kimmel that they were brought up like a “pack of dingoes” and went off “into the bush” many mornings.

Who is Craig Hemsworth’s wife?

Leonie played Diane in 12 episodes of the first two seasons of the mockumentary “The Hollowmen” in 2008. In the vein of “Parks & Recreation,” the show looked at the daily lives of the staff inside the Australian Prime Minister’s office.

According to the Daily Mail, her daughter-in-law, Spanish actress Elsa Pataky spilled the secret to her youthful appearance in her 60s. She follows a very “strict intermittent-fasting diet.”

The “Thor” actor credits his mom for helping him snatch the role of Thor from his youngest brother. She read the role of Odin, portrayed by Anthony Hopkins in the film when he shot the audition tape role in a Vancouver hotel room, finally landing him the part.

Craig Hemsworth’s debts were paid off with Marvel money

Liam revealed to The Independent that Chris cleared their hardworking parent’s lifelong debts. He recounted their dad being overwhelmed as he expected to pay off debts, which followed him since leaving home, until he died.

Chris said in a W magazine profile that the desire to help his parents got him into acting:

“We grew up with very little money, and that kind of frustrated me as a kid listening to my parents talk about bills every week and sort of seeing the sort of weight that put on them. I thought, ‘That’s it. I’m gonna make money and pay off their house.”

Craig Often Spends Time With His Sons

Deep into his 60s, Craig keeps up with his athletic sons. Chris Hemsworth shared on Instagram that one of his best memories was training for track meets with his dad and credits his two state medals to this. The father-son duo trains together in the accompanying video.
