Larry David attended the premiere of the final season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, where he revealed what he had planned next and gave insight into the creative freedom HBO gave him during the show’s 12-season run.

Ahead of a screening of the first two episodes of Season 12 of the comedy series, David got on stage to present the show, getting a standing ovation from the people in attendance.

“If I would’ve been a different person, I might have been touched by that,” David joked after the standing ovation.

“So, yes, yes, this is it. This is it. The final season. It’s very sad, very sad,” David awkwardly said while being playful with the American Sign Language interpreter next to him.”

The comedian noted that many people have been asking what he would do now that the show is ending, to which he jokingly said, “Hey, don’t worry about me. I got plenty to do. First of all, I love to travel. You all know that. I’m a world traveler. I love packing and unpacking, tripping everybody. I come across having a medical emergency in a foreign country where they don’t speak English — that’s the greatest.”

David said that he’s “thinking about [traveling to] Antarctica,” as he has been “hearing a lot of things about Antarctica — good things. Get that boat. I’ll go down there. They got the penguins, I love the penguins.”

“And now that the show is over I’ll have a lot more time to accomplish a few things that needed to be done. I might get that stool test that I’ve been putting off,” he joked.

He also mentioned that he was thinking of taking some Ayahuasca, adding, “I’m going to go in a dark room [and] I’m gonna blow my f***ing mind. I can’t wait to do that. That’s gonna be amazing.”

David also joked about HBO changing their name to Max, saying, “I don’t get that at all. Maybe I’ll change mine to Irving. So, Irving David, that’s got a nice ring to it.”

The actor also mentions executives like David Zaslav and Amy Gravitt, noting that the premium cable network didn’t give him any notes throughout the show’s lifetime, giving him creative reigns of the show.

“Not a note in 12 seasons, which is pretty cold,” he said. “Suggestions… they made suggestions and you know, I love a suggestion. A note is bad, it’s harsh, I got a note — that’s no good.”

David said he was “extremely lucky” for the cast of the show and proceeded to introduce them, including Vince Vaughn and Cheryl Hines. The actor also took an opportunity to acknowledge “two cast members who are no longer with us: Shelley Berman, who played my father, and the great Bob Einstein.”
