As a photographer, mother, and bee-keeper, Darah Trang has the time to doll up and accompany her “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” actor husband, Anston Mount, to his industry events.

Darah Trang has the gift of amplifying her passions without being judgemental or preachy. Her activism, or environmentalist, posts are always backed up by beautifully pictured examples and appropriate personal anecdotes.

The passionate environmentalist is part of an informal and unsanctioned Justice League/Avengers hybrid with her three sisters.

Darah Trang’s Parents Fled Vietnam after the War

Darah was born on October 21 into a world made better through the hard sacrifices of her parents. After the war, they fled Vietnam with her eldest sister still in nappies and made the dangerous trek to Canada. The photographer explained:

“My parents were successful in providing that for me and the rest of my siblings. It was not always easy, but the struggles came with the sanctuary they searched for.”

She is one of four daughters, each of who she attributed to a superhero character. Diana Tang is naturally Wonder Woman, her fit sister Debby Trang is She-Hulk, and Dawn Graves, a professional photographer, and mom, is Superwoman.

The Canadian-Vietnamese Libra moved to New York in 2016, where she was awarded her BFA in Photography at the School of Visual Arts in May 2019. Before her graduation, Darah shared a poignant study of hands and a loving caption:

“I find so much beauty in photographing hands. Woven through age, experiences, gestures, and wrinkles, there are stories. These two are especially important to me. Not only are they a portrait of love and mental illness, but they are also a display of a well-lived life.”

She had a deep bond with her father-in-law, Ed, who died in 2020. He did not recognize his wife, Nancy Smith, or Darah when he was placed in a facility as his dementia decreased in 2019, but in a moment of clarity, he thanked her for taking care of Smith.

Darah and Anson Sold Their Condo and Started a Family in the Country

Darah and her actor partner Anston went on a big adventure, traveling to all their loved ones in mid-2017 to announce their engagement and wed on February 20, 2018. Their friends hosted a surprise Hmong string-tying ceremony for them in October 2018.

The artist revealed on October 19, 2019, that they had sold their airy Brooklyn condo with a view of the Hudson River. She did not give particulars about their new location in the countryside but said they would regularly travel back and forth to the city.

The couple expanded their family, already packed with multiple breeds of fur babies, with the birth of their daughter, Clover Ngoc Mount, on December 4, 2021.

Anson’s silver quiff does a good deal of his work on “Strange New Worlds,” to which he gives all the credit to hair designer Daniel Losco and admits that he is so bad at grooming Darah often makes fun of it.

The photographer has also taken up beekeeping and is a confessed “crazy chicken lady.”

He mentioned that at a year and a half, his baby Clover’s hair was seemingly taking after his, which is a “tangled mess” when he is away from the “Star Trek” spinoff’s excellent hair department.

Darah Trang Is Actively Preserving and Promoting Biodiversity

The photographer regularly speaks about “conservation and the necessity to preserve biodiversity.” Darah started volunteering with Billion Oyster Project in 2018, which aims to restore the oyster population, which can improve water quality, in New York Harbor.

The hobbyist environmentalist shared one of her hacks to prevent food scraps from ending up in a landfill where it gives off methane gasses. She dries banana skins and egg shells to create a natural fertilizer rich with nutrients for houseplants.

To the soundtrack of “Feel It Still” by Portugal. The Man, Darah, patiently explained in four detailed steps how to prep a raised garden for planting in a May 2021 Reel. She began the post with a slight look at the beautiful vegetables she grew with the method.

The artist has also taken up beekeeping and is a confessed “crazy chicken lady.” Her chattering of chickens bears old-timey names such as Eloise, Ruth, and Dorothy. She sometimes takes a break from rural life with friends like Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell.
