Deacon Reese Phillippe might have access to two famous last names via his parents, Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe, but the 19-year-old prefers to go by the mononym Deacon professionally. He’ll be entertaining a crowd of rowdy baseball supporters this week.

Recent high school grad Deacon Reese Phillippe shared on his Instagram Stories that he is opening for DJ duo Loud Luxury on Thursday as part of Jimmy’s Famous Seafood’s TailGOAT pre-game party for the Baltimore Orioles.

The musician and producer promised to “sing a couple of new songs” and encouraged people to come through if they were in the area. His dad shared a post on his Stories of an Instagram user saying the news of Deacon joining the line-up “has made his day!”

After announcing the opening acts on Monday, also featuring George Tsakiris, Jimmy’s Famous Seafood wrote, “Prepare for 3+ hours of high-energy entertainment!” The organizers warned that there are only nine tickets left for the event

The teenager filled the gaps with YouTube tutorials and through trial and error.

The teen made headlines when his mom, Reese Witherspoon‘s June 9, 2022, social media post about his high school graduation. She wrote that she was so proud of her “thoughtful, talented, kind and generous” son. Deacon smiled from behind his dark sunglasses in an orange nylon graduation cap and gown flanked by both parents.

Deacon Released His First Single While in High School

Deacon, the musician, came to the public’s attention with his 2020 debut single, “Long Run,” featuring Scottish singer Nina Nesbitt. The trach spent time on iTunes’ Top 20 and has 14,7 million streams on Spotify.

In a 2020 Interview profile, the then-17-year-old said he prefers producing and writing as he had “a teenage voice.” The eldest son of Hollywood royalty realized there is more to music than being a singer while listening to tunes in the car with his dad.

He asked Ryan Phillippe “about how [music] works,” and the actor taught him “all the stuff he knew.” The teenager filled the gaps with YouTube tutorials and through trial and error. His singles “Guess” and “Kill My High” are from his seven-track debut album, “Only Young Once,” which was released this year.

Acting is still in his blood. Deacon was cast in the third season of Mindy Kaling‘s “Never Have I Ever” as an unlikeable private school kid. Series co-creator Lang Fisher told EW that he is “such a nice kid,” adding that he “showed up like a real pro” for his first acting gig.
