Devastated Dad Thinks His Baby Died, Finds Out Later That Wife Sold Son to Hide the Real Father

When a man discovered that his baby had died after childbirth, he was devastated. However, he soon found out the truth, and it was something he never saw coming.

Sgt. Steven Garcia was in a happy marriage with Marina Garcia, and he was thrilled when she told him they were expecting a baby.

Stationed in South Korea, the US soldier looked forward to going home and meeting his child in 2018. He was heartbroken when Marina told him the baby did not survive the birth in Arizona.

THEY CRIED A LOT

His sister phoned him to share the news, and an emotional Steven expressed: “We cried quite a bit together over the phone. It was devastating.” Sadly, the biggest blow was still coming—his wife had lied to him about many things.

The baby was alive, but the little boy was not with his mom. She handed him over to her friends, Leslie and Alex Hernandez. The couple might have gotten away with the newborn if they had not been caught speeding in Texas.  

THE TRUTH WAS REVEALED 

A patrolman noticed that something was wrong and pressed them for information. The couple eventually revealed that the baby did not belong to them, and Alex had illegally signed as the baby’s father.

The Hernandez couple pleaded guilty to forgery and were handed a four-year sentence of probationary supervision. Marina also pleaded guilty to an “attempted fraudulent scheme.” 

HE WAS IN DENIAL

The mother purportedly wanted to “get rid of the child,” and the news shocked Steven, who could not understand her actions. He was dealt another blow when he found out he was not the baby’s biological father.

He said: “I was under the assumption the entire time that she was pregnant that I was the father. When I found out, I was kind of in denial. I couldn’t believe what was going on.”

HE PLANNED TO ADOPT THE BABY

Despite this, he planned to fight for the child. As an adoptee, Steven hoped to give the baby a home regardless of paternity. Steven divorced his wife and started on his mission to adopt the baby. 

He expressed: “The opportunity to do that for someone else, I believe it’s important. It could change the child’s life and give him a better future. I believe that’s the right thing to do.”
