SCARLET WITCH/WANDA MAXIMOFF

Elizabeth Olsen’s character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has gone through a lot. We met her as a villain in “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” where she lost her brother, Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver.

She later joined the Avengers and fell in love with Paul Bettany’s Vision, killed by Thanos in “Avengers: Infinity War.” In Wanda’s Disney+ series “WandaVision,” we saw her reuniting with Vision and having two boys.

However, it was all part of a pocket reality she created, meaning that Vision and her two children ceased to exist when she turned things back to normal and became the Scarlet Witch, one of the MCU’s most powerful characters.

In “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” a broken-hearted Wanda is still trying to find a way to get her children back. She is determined to do it even if it means facing Benedict Cumberbatch’s Stephen Strange and his allies in combat.

Watching such an evil version of Wanda Maximoff might be controversial, especially after digging deeper into her personality in “WandaVision.” Still, her troubled life justifies her actions and motivations.

KNIGHTS OF WUNDAGORE

Wanda is not alone in her fight. During her journey, she finds the Knights of Wundagore, giant creatures that only serve the High Evolutionary but eventually follow the Scarlet Witch.

In the comics, the High Evolutionary was a scientist who created the New Men – animals who evolved into humans – to fight a demon. The High Evolutionary eventually chose some of his New Men and made them the Knights of Wundagore.

“Doctor Strange 2” is likely to be available on streaming somewhere in July.

GARGANTOS

The one-eyed squid monster that has appeared in several “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” trailers and TV spots is called Gargantos

Although it fights our favorite sorcerer earlier in the film, its comic-book counterpart faces off another superhero, underwater warrior Namor.

Gargantos’ only appearance in the Marvel comics dates back to 1969. Given that it is a relatively weak monster, Namor defeated it in a few pages.
