Does Rachel McAdams Have a Husband? A Look inside Her Secretive Relationship with Jamie Linden

Rachel McAdams’ partner, Jamie Linden, joined the list of the famous actress’s Hollywood romances in 2018. However, unlike McAdams’ past relationships, she and Linden kept their relationship very discreet. So much so that they have never made a red carpet appearance together.

McAdams’ most publicized romance came in 2004 when she dated her “The Notebook” co-star, Ryan Gosling. The two actors dated for four years, setting fans into a frenzy with their famous kiss at the 2005 MTV Movie Awards. When their relationship ended, McAdams moved on with Josh Lucas in 2009.

By 2010, she was dating Michael Sheen. Sheen and McAdams met on the “Midnight in Paris” set and made their public debut as an official couple at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. They dated for three years before calling things off in 2013. McAdams had a few rumored relationships over the years before she sparked dating rumors with Linden.

Rachel McAdams’ Partner Jamie Linden Is a Filmmaker and a Writer

Linden is a screenwriter from Winter Park, Florida. After graduating from high school, he stayed in Florida for university and majored in digital media production and marketing. He graduated from university in 2001 and decided to relocate to chase his dreams of breaking into the film industry. He said:

“I got a temp job reading screenplays and was fascinated by them. I was hired and fired from a few assistant jobs, so I figured I’d try writing a script myself.”

His film career began on a bittersweet note as he sold his first screenplay to Warner Bros. when he was 24, but the entertainment company never produced the script. But, while one door closed, another opened for Linden. In 2006, he established himself as a screenwriter after he wrote the script for “We Are Marshall.”

The film starred Matthew McConaughey, and from thereon, Linden continued to work with acting heavyweights like George Clooney and Julia Roberts in “Money Monster,” Channing Tatum in “Dear John” and “10 Years” and Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley in “Chaos Walking.”

“10 Years” was also the first time Linden landed the chance to try his hand at directing. The film co-starred Chris Pratt and Aubrey Plaza from “Parks and Recreation.”

Jamie Linden Has Dated Another Famous Actress in the Past

Before his relationship with McAdams, Linden dated Zooey Deschanel. After her divorce from Ben Gibbard, the exes reportedly met in 2012. A source close to the exes said Linden was “a nice guy” who was funny and “a little geeky.”

After dating for two years, Linden and Deschanel were assumed to have broken up in 2014 when the paparazzi spotted the “New Girl” actress with Jacob Pechenik.

Rachel and Jamie Have Been Very Secretive about Their Relationship

McAdams and Linden have been in public relationships, but they decided they wanted to keep their romance under wraps as much as possible. While they both shy away from social media, fans get a glimpse of their relationship here and there.

In May 2016, Linden and McAdams held hands while enjoying a getaway in Paris, and paparazzi photographed them embracing while in line at the Louvre museum. Their vacation occurred around the same time Linden was at the Cannes Film Festival to promote “Money Monster.”

A month later, they posed for a group picture at a friend’s wedding in Virginia. McAdams wore a red dress as she leaned into Linden’s side, who donned a crisp white shirt under a dark-colored suit.

A source close to Linden confirmed his relationship with McAdams in 2016 and said he had taken McAdams to the wedding. The source further added that the couple was very comfortable with each other, and in July 2016, they attended Comic-Con in San Diego.

In August 2016, Linden and McAdams stepped out to grab lunch with the “Mean Girls” actress’s sister and brother-in-law in West Hollywood. After they all parted ways, Linden and McAdams went on a shopping date for home decor and were spotted carrying large pillows down the street.

In a 2020 interview, McAdams spoke about her personal life and revealed that she and Linden decided to ditch the big city for a quiet life in the countryside. She said:

“We live out in the country, so there’s a little farm down the road, so we can go and look at the animals. We’ve been doing some planting.”

Rachel and Jamie Have Two Kids Together

In 2009, McAdams shared that she was looking forward to having children one day while at the premiere of “The Time Traveler’s Wife” co-starring Eric Bana. Her wish came true as she was expecting her first child with Linden in February 2018.

McAdams kept the news of her pregnancy secret until May 2018, when she and Linden were seen walking down the street while the screenwriter held a newborn. Months after giving birth to her son, Rachel McAdams spoke about being a mother for the first time and said:

“I want to keep his life private, even if mine isn’t. I’m having more fun being a [mom] than I’ve ever had. Everything about it is interesting and exciting, and inspiring to me. Even the tough days — there’s something delightful about them.”

Her “Disobedience” co-star, Rachel Weisz, let the news of McAdams’ pregnancy slip while promoting their film in 2018. However, McAdams was the one to confirm the news of her second pregnancy in 2020 when she flaunted her baby bump while shopping in Los Angeles in a light peach dress.

She confirmed her second child is a girl in early 2022 while discussing her character, who is a mother, in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” Rachel McAdams said she looked forward to having her daughter watch the film one day, and that she resonated with her character as they were both mothers to girls.
