While no man has yet claimed the title of Retta’s husband, the comedian, who also doubles as an actress, took to Twitter to share she had a crush on a fellow famous actor. Not one to share about her love life, Retta also does not have children. However, she shares a close relationship with her nephews.

Originally from New Jersey, Retta is commonly known for her roles in “Parks and Recreation” costarring Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman, and “Good Girls.”

She has spent many years in the public eye; however, Retta has kept her love life under wraps. She mentioned a past relationship on a single occasion, but other than that, Retta has enjoyed a successful career as a single woman without kids.

Retta Had the Funniest Twitter Romance with Joe Manganiello

While Retta has not been in public relationships since making a name for herself as a comedian and actress, in 2012, she had Twitter users in stitches when she teased about being in a fake relationship with Joe Manganiello.

The faux online romance began after Manganiello called Retta his “favorite person on Twitter,” to which she responded, “…P.S. this totes makes u my boyfriend & I intend to tell errybody I’m [expletive] Alcide (sic).”

Actresses Yvette Nicole Brown and Octavia Spencer joined in on the fun. Soon, members of the “Modern Family” cast took to Twitter and jokily shared that they were in a relationship with the “Magic Mike” actor too.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who plays Mitchell Pritchet, humorously wrote, “All these rumors are crazy… Here’s the truth: I’M actually dating @SofiaVergara… it happened after @JoeManganiello & I broke up.”

Eric Stonestreet, who plays Ferguson’s on-screen partner, chimed in and typed, “Oh okay, that’s cool. Well, now @Joe Manganiello and I are dating. Sooooo Yaaaaaa.”

Manganiello and Retta’s back-and-forth tweets stretched over two years until the news of his relationship with Sofia Vergara broke, to which Retta humorously responded:

“It is with a heavy heart that I learn of Joe Manganiello, aka my wolfy Twitter boo, is seeing one Ms. Sofia Vergara. As with any (pretend) conscious uncoupling, there is still much love, and my Mellow Nello (that was what I called my boo in my head) will always hold a special place in my Twitter heart.”

Retta Is Very Private about Her Love Life

After Retta landed the role of a beloved housewife on the hit series “Good Girls”—costarring Christina Hendricks and Mae Whitman—fans were able to tune into the NBC series weekly to get their scoop on Retta’s on-screen love interest.

However, offscreen, she rarely shares details about her love life. In her 2018 memoir, which features a collection of personal essays, Retta wrote about her journey in Hollywood and that she did not have a man in her life.

In the past, Retta has spoken about a relationship that occurred during her college days which led to how she ended up with her stage name. Retta said:

“When I was in college, I hooked up with this guy from Georgia… He started calling me Retta as if I allowed it, and my friends thought it was hilarious, and so they insisted on calling me that.”

After entering the world of stand-up, Retta was next in line for an open mic, and after the MC had a hard time understanding her real name—Marietta Sirleaf—the “Good Girls” actress decided to go by Retta.

Retta Doesn’t Have Kids of Her Own, but She’s the Best Aunt for Her Little Nephews

While Retta is yet to experience motherhood, she regularly takes to Instagram to share the close bonds he shares with her nephews. In 2020, she shared a snap of her nephews in a side hug and captioned the post, “#brotherly love.”

The following year, Retta posted four pictures of her adorable nephews smiling into the camera. In the caption, she wrote, “I love them so muuuuch,” preceded by two crying face emoticons.
