Does Shohei Ohtani Have a Wife? More about His Dating Status

Shohei Ohtani, nicknamed “Shotime,” has made a name for himself in the world of baseball as a successful pitcher. However, his talent on the pitch and his good looks have caught the attention of fans, which left them curious about his love life.

Of Japanese origin, Ohtani has been one of the most well-known new-generation baseball players in the Major League and is the face of his professional MLB club, Los Angeles Angels.

While he has become well-known for his skills, his good looks sparked an interest in his dating life among his fans. While Ohanti does not have a wife and has never been married, there were rumors that he dated a fellow professional athlete.

Shohei Ohtani Has Been Linked to Kamalani Dung

In 2018, Kamalani Dung took to Instagram to share a picture of herself and Ohanti which sparked dating rumors among fans. Once she caught wind of the allegations, Dung took to Twitter and wrote:

“But the real question is, who snitched and told those magazines that I was Shohei Ohtani’s girlfriend?!”

She later clarified that she was a fan of Ohanit’s, and they were not romantically involved. Dung, known as Kama Dung, is a softball gold medalist from Puerto Rico. Like Jason Momoa, Barack Obama, and Nicole Kidman, she is a Hawaiin Native.

In 2018, she posted a picture of herself with her gold medal from the 2018 Olympics and shared that she was the first to win the award for Puerto Rico in 25 years. With over thirty thousand followers on Instagram at the time of writing, Dung also won a bronze medal at the Olympics.

She was the recipient of two professional contracts and had visited six continents, and obtained a degree from what she called “one of the best universities in the world,” UC Berkeley. Dung is also a sports analyst.

She also founded a training facility called Kama Training, where she trained Hawaii’s future athletes. In 2021, Dung shared a photo of herself with future softballers and revealed that she aimed to provide motivation and a safe space for future softballers. She said:

“I think it’s really important to share my knowledge. It’d be amazing if I could pave the road for more softball players from Hawaii to get the opportunity that I got.”

And while she is not in a relationship with Ohanti, Dung is in a relationship with Hawaiian musician Dillon Pakele. In 2022, Dung took to Instagram to celebrate her “lover and best friend’s” birthday, and in 2023, she shared more snaps of the happy couple in honor of Valentine’s Day.

Shohei Ohtani Is Not Dating Anyone as He Focuses on His Career

In 2021, Ohtani’s interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara, shared a tiny glimpse of the athlete’s love life during an interview with a Japanese publication. Ohanti’s interpreter revealed that people often asked him if Ohtani was dating someone.

When Ohtani would respond, “No, I don’t have one,” that is what his interpreter would translate into English for the public. When Ohanti’s interpreter was asked if he was sure about the response, he laughed and said, “Well, I don’t know.”

While Ohtani has shared that he does not have a significant other, he has focused on his impressive career. In 2021, he won an MVP award, and his interpreter revealed that his English was steadily improving. Mizuhara said:

“To begin with, Shohei’s English has improved so much that he doesn’t need to translate these kinds of questions anymore. I think he understands almost everything, especially the listening part.”

Mizuhara added that Ohanti was not one to share the weight he carried on his shoulder’s as an athlete and rarely ever cried. However, Ohtani’s laser focus on his career was supported by his fans.
