Millions of people who claim benefits will begin to receive their £10 Christmas bonus from Monday.

On December 4, the one-off payment will be given out to all benefit claimants who are eligible. The tax-free payment handed out in the run-up to Christmas will not have any effect on other payments made.

Those who are set to receive it do not need to apply as it will be made automatically. It is also paid to the individual rather than the household so if there are more than one person claiming benefits under the same roof, they will all receive £10 each, reports the Manchester Evening News.
