Elderly California Couple Is Kicked Out of Home Finds Out Son Is Responsible: ‘Why Did Our Boy Do That to Us?’

An elderly couple had been living in their home for many years when they learned that their son had betrayed them. They were subsequently kicked out of the house on which they had been making payments for years.

Ismael and Angelita Ramirez had been living in the same house for 20 years, making monthly mortgage payments, when they were told they had only a limited time to pack all their personal effects and leave the property.

Confused, the couple tried to reach their son, who had helped them purchase the home two decades earlier. However, they could not contact him and now have no place to call their own.

The California couple received an eviction notice in April this year after paying $700 a month on the property the entire time they have lived there. They were shocked by the information and confused by the situation.

When asked what they thought about receiving an eviction notice for the home they had inhabited for 20 years, Ismael said:

“We thought, why did our boy do that to us if he knew the house was ours?”

Ismael then explained that in 2003, when they had bought the house, their son had told them their names didn’t need to appear on the title as he was advised by the person helping them.

Ismael and Angelita said they wanted their names on the title, but their son told them it was not something they should worry about. The Ramirezes felt they were lied to because they didn’t speak English.

When they received the eviction notice, it said the house owner was kicking them out. It was only after they received the news that they found out their son had transferred the home to another woman.

Although they have sought legal assistance, they admitted that they are dismissed each time they bring their case to a lawyer because their names were not on the home’s title. Ismael lamented:

“They left us with nothing. At the moment, we felt the world was collapsing on top of us.”

With their social security checks, Ismael and Angelita cannot afford to buy a new house. In fact, they cannot even afford to rent a place, which is why a GoFundMe page has been set up for the couple.

The page aims to assist the couple in being able to afford to move out of their daughter’s home, where they moved after they were kicked out of their home. They have shared their heartfelt thanks to those who have helped and continue to help them.

As they live with their daughter, their other son, Ismael Jr., has tried to reach his brother to no avail. The last time the brothers spoke was in April this year when Ismael’s brother told him he was sick but was being taken care of.

After not hearing from their son for over five months, Angelita and Ismael called for a welfare check on their son. They confirmed that before he moved out of their home, he had been a working man doing well.

Ismael and Angelita’s story has gained worldwide attention, with people sharing their stories of similar incidents and sending the couple love and strength during this difficult time.

One person said their brother had done the same thing to their mother. The commenter said her mother now lives in a small apartment and sheds tears daily that her own son could so easily betray her.

Another lamented that family always hurt one the most, as others said it happened all too often to elderly people. One person shared:
