An elderly man has been left in a “serious condition” in hospital after being hit by a car near Harrogate.
At around 5.50pm on Monday, November 6, the man, who is in his 90s, was hit by a Ford Fiesta on the A61 a the junction with Knox Mill Lane. This took place between Harrogate and Killinghall. The elderly man had just left a bus when he was hit. He is in a serious condition in hospital.
According to North Yorkshire Police, the Ford Fiesta was heading northbound on the A61 towards Killinghall. The driver is also helping the police with their investigation.

North Yorkshire Police said: “North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a man suffered serious injuries following a collision between Harrogate and Killinghall.
“It happened on the A61 at the junction with Knox Mill Lane at approximately 5.50pm on Monday, November 6, 2023 and involved a pedestrian and a Ford Fiesta. The pedestrian, a man in his 90s, had just alighted from a bus. He currently remains in a serious condition in hospital.
“The Ford Fiesta was travelling northbound on the A61 in the direction of Killinghall. The driver is helping officers with their investigation. The road was closed for several hours to allow investigation work to take place. It re-opened at 1.45am the following morning (Tuesday, November 7, 2023).”
