An elderly woman who was hit by a car in Barnsley has now died.

On Saturday, January 13 at 10.46am, South Yorkshire Police were called to Wombwell Lane, near to the junction with Ash Street. This followed reports that a woman had been hit by a car.

The involved car is a grey Vauxhall Astra and the woman was 85-years-old. She was taken to hospital where she later died.

According to South Yorkshire Police, the driver of the car stayed on the scene and is currently assisting officers. The police are looking for any witnesses or passing drivers with dashcam footage.
