Esme Louise Sutter Was Born through Surrogacy Is Now a Teen – The Private Life of Katey Sagal’s Daughter

Esme Louise Sutter was born into a family of creatives. Her eldest siblings have followed their parents into the entertainment industry and can now handle the Hollywood limelight as adults. However, the youngest of actress Katey Sagal’s daughters may take a more philanthropic career route.

Esme Louise Sutter’s mom, Katey Sagal, married four times and welcomed her first two children, Sarah Grace and Jackson, with her third and former spouse Jack White. However, the actress had pregnancy problems with her first two kids and had to consider alternatives with her third.

Esme Louise also seems to have a loving relationship with her parents. Although she’s rarely seen in public, her dad, Kurt Sutter, frequently gushes about Esme Louise on his social media, sharing their jokes and celebrating her achievements.

Esme Louise Sutter’s Birth Had Been a Huge Undertaking for Her Parents

Esme Louise is Sutter’s firstborn, and he and Sagal were present during her arrival. Esme Louise drew her first breath on January 10, 2007, and was born through surrogacy. In February 2007, her parents opened up about the process and how they decided on the birth option.

Her mom explained that she could no longer carry a child due to medical issues with her first two pregnancies. So, she and Sutter began looking for alternatives and even considered adoption. Although adoption was a viable option for them, surrogacy felt more fitting for Esme Louise’s parents, as Sagal explained:

“We headed down the adoption road at the same time were were investigating the surrogacy road and left it up to whatever happened first, because we weren’t attached to either way. Our surrogacy situation just fell into place really easily.”

Esme Louise’s mom also revealed that she and her husband were present throughout their surrogate’s pregnancy, as they attended each doctor’s appointment along with the surrogate’s husband. When Esme Louise was born, her dad cut her chord, and her mom held her. Sagal thought the experience was “beautiful.”

Esme Louise’s appearances on her dad’s socials have either been heartwarming or humorous, as Sutter often shares their interactions on his account. In February 2021, Esme Louise helped prepare lunches with the Hollywood Food Coalition, which provides food for the needy.

Sutter took to Instagram to celebrate his daughter’s philanthropic act, saying she was “amazing.” He also urged his followers to join the cause and help if they could. Alongside the warm caption was a photo of a then 14-year-old Esme Louise posing next to a blackboard that read:

“Over 4500 lunches so far, spread the word, every Sunday.”

She donned a black floral dress with black and white wedge sandals and let her hair down parted midways. Esme Louise also carried what seemed to be a pink silk jacket and wore a black and white striped face mask.

The following month, Esme Louise appeared again on her dad’s page, but in a throwback video from when she was much younger. It depicted her putting leaves in Sutter’s cup of coffee after promising not to do so and giggling mischievously about it.

In June 2019, Sutter posted a black-and-white photo of himself and Esme Louise. The picture showed a bonding moment between them as they both focused on something outside the camera shot. Esme Louise’s resemblance to Sutter was more apparent here, as they wore glasses with similar-looking frames and wore their hair in low ponytails.

In November of that year, Sutter posted a two-picture collage of himself and Esme Louise donning the same beanie and jokingly asked his followers in the caption about who wore it better. That Christmas, Sutter bought Esme Louise a giant pink teddy bear, which he shared on his page.

However, in a different post, the “Sons of Anarchy” creator confessed that he’d grown attached to the pink stuffed animal as it had become his “favorite thing in the world.” He even told Esme Louise that it had been “recalled” since it was “full of asbestos.”

Esme Louise responded, asking her dad why he bought her a toy “filled with cancer.” In his defense, Sutter blamed her mom and global warming. Although Katey Sagal‘s elder kids have forged promising paths in the acting industry, it is yet to be known what career Esme Louise will pursue.
