Fans Divided as Charles’ Coronation Falls on Archie’s Birthday amid ‘Heightening Tensions’ over Boy’s Title

• King Charles’ delay in his decision about Archie and Lilibet’s titles reportedly is “heightening tensions.”

After the death of Queen Elizabeth II, her son inherited the crown and is now known as King Charles III. Similarly, the rest of the Royal Family members also move up a step in the line of succession.

The titles of other senior royals have already been changed. William, Duke of Sussex is now known as the Prince of Wales, while his wife is the Princess of Wales. But not all the titles have been updated yet.

The children of Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, have not received their titles on the royal website. King Charles’ spokesperson relayed, “At the moment, we’re focused on the next 10 days, and as and when we get information, we will update that website.”

Back in 2021, it was proposed that King Charles would prevent Archie Mountbatten-Windsor from becoming a prince in a bid to limit the number of key royals. This is highly unlikely, though, since it would be greatly damaging to the King’s relationship with the Sussexes.

Despite the earlier promises, the website has still not been updated, and people are taking notice. Technically, though, the two children of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are already Prince and Princess since the titles are decided largely by lineage.

According to a royal expert, the King has not decided whether he’ll grant the two children the titles yet, “The King is focused on the mourning period. It’s unlikely you’ll know other titles during that period. I’m sure at some point there will be discussions.”

Now, amid already heightened tensions, the King has fueled the flames even more by announcing his coronation. Fans have been in an uproar, but a divide has also formed. One side was outraged at the announcement, while the other took it in its stride.

Fans React to the King’s Coronation Date

While the King’s coronation is usually a day to be celebrated, many Twitter pages have been in upheaval since the announcement. The King’s coronation was announced to be on Archie’s 4th birthday, and with the King’s delay in confirming the young one’s title, fans have taken this as a slight.

Many on Twitter see the coronation date as a nasty ploy to undermine the Sussexes. Some have even taken to calling the King derogatory nicknames. However they express it, the general consensus among the upset fans is that the King is doing this out of spite, as this user claims:

“King Charles III will celebrate his coronation next year on Saturday 6th May in order to upstage the 4th birthday party of his grandson Archie.”

Other fans are completely fine with the coronation’s date and can’t seem to understand the fuss. Some argue that since the young royal is only four, he is too young to care about the politics surrounding this birthday.

Others have pointed out that the coronation falls on the same day as the day King Charles’ grandfather was crowned. This makes it a day of historical relevance as well as personal importance to the King. Others still have suggested that it is of little relevance since Archie has lived in California for a long time:

“Why do people care that the coronation and kids birthday coincide? Archie has lived in California LONGER than he was in the UK.”

Among all the speculation, royal author Katie Nicholl also delivered her opinion. She posited that a major historical event, such as the coronation of a new king, takes an enormous amount of planning.

She goes on to say that the royal calendar is undoubtedly packed with events, and it’s most likely hard to find an open slot. Her theory is, therefore, that the overlapping of these two events is most likely merely a coincidence. She also believes that it may turn out to be a happy one:

“Well, having the coronation on Archie’s birthday is definitely not a snub. I think it’s very much a happy coincidence.”

The royal announcement about the coronation was released on October 11 – just a day after Prince Harry shared an update about his family. In the update, Harry shared a few details about how the family is doing, including their “five children.”

Harry Opens up about His Family Life with Meghan & Their “Five Children”

On Monday, October 10, Prince Harry appeared on a video call with Isabel Delaney, the winner of the 2022 WellChild award for Inspirational Young Person aged 12 to 14. During the chat, the Duke of Sussex opened up about his own family and children.

On the call, he spoke a little about their dogs at first. He mentioned that they have a black Labrador named Pula and two rescue Beagles named Guy and Mia. He also said that, although they can be a handful, they also function as emotional support dogs for the family. He remarked that:

“We basically have five children.”

He also spoke fondly about how his children, Archie and Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor, are growing up. Archie is doing very well in school, and he’s being taught manners. Lilibet is growing steadily. He added:

“Archie is very, very busy and Lili is learning to use her voice which is great.”

The Duke of Sussex had a friendly chat with the young Isabel, who was diagnosed with autism and ADHD, among other things. The two even shared a laugh as the little one told Prince Harry a joke.

The royal couple has not officially ruled out the possibility of a third child. This said, their concern for the environmental impact is great, and Prince Harry claimed that due to this, they have discussed the issue and decided on two children max.
