There are currently a total of 36 flood warnings and alerts in place in Yorkshire for today (December 8) as rain is forecast for the region.
12 flood warnings which mean ‘flooding is expected’ and 28 flood alerts which means ‘flooding is possible’ have been issued by the Environment Agency, as river levels are expected to remain high.
A total of 241 warnings and alerts have been issued across the country.

The Environment Agency said: “Local flooding is possible from rivers and surface water today (Thursday) across parts of the South and North West of England and the Midlands following heavy rain today.
“Local river flooding may continue through the East Midlands, North East England and parts of the South of England on Friday and Saturday, with flooding extending through to Monday in parts of the Midlands.
“Properties may flood and there may be travel disruption.”

Government flood warnings are telling people to monitor local water levels and weather conditions and put flood plans into action. They also recommend people should ‘avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water’.

Yorkshire will see a mix of weather on Friday (December 8), says Met Office. Most of the day will be cloudy with some sunny spells and showers in parts.
The Met Office said: “Early low cloud gradually replaced by some sunny spells and showers. These showers will be locally heavy, eventually merging to more general rain as winds also strengthen later. Maximum temperature 9 °C.”
