Yorkshire is due for a wet New Year’s Eve with as many as 28 flood warnings and alerts issued across the county.

Residents mainly across North and East Yorkshire have been warned that flooding is to be expected today (December 31), while heavy rain is also expected to batter the county.

These include 10 flood warnings, where flooding is expected, and 18 flood alerts, where flooding is possible.

Warnings have been issued along the River Derwent, the River Ouse and the River Wharfe.

Alerts have been issued across the River Derwent, the North Sea and across a range of rivers flowing through east and north of the county.
