A former West Yorkshire Police detective has been charged with a serious sexual offence.

Claudine Binns, 49, has been charged with sexual assault by penetration and is due to appear at Bradford Magistrates Court on January 8. The charge relates to an alleged offence while off-duty.

She was working as a West Yorkshire Police detective inspector in Bradford district at the time of her arrest in May 2022 and was suspended from duty, according to West Yorkshire Police. She has since retired from West Yorkshire Police.
