The cold mornings have arrived.

And there is nothing worse than looking out of the window as you rush to get ready for work or the school run and realising there will be an additional few minutes added to defrost your windscreen.

But that is where EV drivers have the advantage. Most electrical vehicles are fitted with a pre-conditioning system which allows the driver to pre-heat or pre-cool the car before they start their journey.

The pre-conditioning system works on a timer and it can be set using the cars multimedia system or via an app on the smartphone. It allows you to set a timer and the car will then automatically warm up for that time.

For example, if you have to leave for work at 8.20am, set the timer for 8.20 and when you get in the car it will not only be cosy and warm but the windscreen will also be fully defrosted. It means you will no longer need to buy that de-icer or resort to warm water or other hacks when the overnight temperatures are freezing.

And if you have your car plugged in overnight it also means it will be nicely heated with the battery still on 100pc for the journey.
