Glenda Bautista Dave Bautista’s Life Together Ended after 8 Years of Marriage a Custody Battle

Dave Bautista had his fair share of struggles before catapulting to fame as a WWE wrestler and actor, much of which came from his relationship with ex-wife Glenda Bautista. The pair went to the same high school, and Glenda gave Dave a place to stay after his family threw him out.

In his 2007 autobiography “Batista Unleashed,” Dave Bautista detailed his relationship with his ex-lover Glenda Bautista. The pair’s romance began after Dave’s long-standing relationship with another woman had ended in the late 1980s. At the time, he said he had no real direction, and his family was “fed up” with him.

After they threw him out, Glenda gave him a place to stay while he sorted his life out. Two weeks into their relationship, Glenda was already pregnant with their first child, whom they named Keilani. Two years later, their second daughter, Athena, was born.

Dave said that by the time Athena was born, no hope remained for him and Glenda to rekindle any romance. Although he described how she made his life “more than a living hell,” Dave explained that her actions negatively affected all those close to her.

Glenda also ruined her relationship with her youngest daughter after allegedly becoming verbally abusive. At the time of the publication of Dave’s autobiography, Athena was no longer talking to her mother. She and her older sister also got into some trouble over the years.

Glenda Bautista Went to the Same School as Dave

Although she was romantically involved with a man who became an athletic and entertainment celebrity, Glenda’s life remained a bit of a mystery. She met him before he achieved fame, and the pair attended the same high school.

When her relationship with Dave began, Glenda had already been working a steady job while living with her parents. Recently, outlets have reported that she graduated from the University of Albany with a Bachelor’s degree in English with two minors in Journalism and Fine Arts.

Glenda also reportedly attained a dual MBA/MS at Fordham Graduate School of Business in Information Systems and has accrued over two decades’ worth of experience in digital media.

Glenda is a Lead Product Manager based in New York City. She has worked in various roles, including architect, designer, strategist, producer, technologist, and developer.

She mainly worked in Silicon Valley and Silicon Alley and said the former region and San Francisco were previously her homes. However, there hasn’t been any confirmation as to whether this Glenda Bautista is the same Glenda that married Dave in 1990.

Glenda Bautista Was There at a Difficult Time in Dave’s Life

After Glenda took the “Guardians of the Galaxy” alum into her home, Dave wrote in his autobiography that he became incredibly dependent on her. Eventually, he found employment – and an emotional outlet for his frustrations – at a gym, where he felt he belonged. He spent more time there and started landing jobs as a bouncer in bars.

Dave maintained that his relationship with Glenda was tumultuous, but once they had their first daughter, her arrival became the catalyst that pushed him to turn his life around. Dave and Glenda welcomed Keilani in 1990 – the year in which they married on March 25 – and in 1992, they had Athena.

Glenda and Dave Were Suing for Child Custody

Glenda and Dave ended their marriage in 1998, and as the actor described the court proceedings for custody of their kids, they were “ugly.” Dave was alarmed by the atmosphere his ex-wife had created around his daughters, saying she had become verbally abusive.

Despite not being able to be present in their lives as much due to his wrestling career burgeoning – even going on to star alongside Daniel Craig in “Spectre” – Dave made it his mission to try and provide Keilani and Athena with a steady upbringing.

Still, it wasn’t easy, as courts tended to demonstrate prejudice toward fathers when they fought for custody of their children. It was especially difficult for Dave, as a big and muscular man who engaged in fighting to make a living.

After Glenda tried painting him in a bad light, they underwent “extensive psychological evaluation” before the court delivered a verdict. In the end, he won the custody battle, thanks to attorney Rebecca Masri.

Athena Batista Cut All Ties with Glenda

Athena was 14 when her dad wrote “Batista Unleased,” and he was very proud of his little girl. She had become class president, and as a child, Athena had her heart set on being a Harvard student. However, as she grew older, that changed to UC Berkeley.

Athena didn’t spend much time with her dad, as he had already left their house when she was a baby. Still, as difficult as it was, Dave tried to be as present as he could be in her life. He worried that his absence would negatively affect their relationship, but their bond remained strong.

Athena couldn’t say the same for her mother. Dave wrote that Athena wanted nothing to do with Glenda and had cut off all communication with her. While she had a promising future in high school, Athena got into trouble in 2010 when an adult tape she filmed with her boyfriend was leaked. She was 18 at the time.

That same year, she became “best friends” with Gepetto Jackson, and the pair often appeared together in public. In February 2011, they were seen shopping together in Tampa, Florida, and soon the paparazzi began harassing them.

Keilani’s First Delivery Made Dave Batista Very Nervous

Keilani’s relationship with Dave started off strong, but they eventually drifted apart as she grew older. She started dating a young man named Ricky, and the pair had a son named Jacob when Keilani was 16. Dave was upset that his daughter had gotten pregnant as a teenager.

However, once he laid his eyes on Jacob, all the anger he held for Keilani’s actions disappeared, and his main mission was to take care of Jacob. Soon after, Ricky and Keilani’s relationship began deteriorating. The pair separated, and a few weeks later, Ricky died in a car accident.

Afterward, Keilani ran away and got married, emancipating herself from her dad’s custody, per Florida state laws. It also meant that Dave lost custody of Jacob, and Keilani could do as she pleased. Dave loved both her sons and wished to spend more time with them, but it wasn’t easy.

Unlike Athena, Keilani “worshiped” her mother and was perpetually angry with her dad. Dave struggled to understand why as he ensured he provided everything she wanted. However, he mentioned that Glenda always tried to make her and Athena choose between him and herself. Dave Bautista married twice after their split.
