There is no age limit on seeing one’s hopes and dreams come true. Ninety-four-year-old Martha Mae Ophelia Moon Tucker had a dusty old dream stored away—it was something she never thought would come true.
However, after the Birmingham, Alabama resident watched a lavish wedding scene in her favorite movie, “Coming to America,” she whispered something under her breath.

NO BRIDAL STORES FOR BLACK PEOPLE
When she was wed in 1952, there were no bridal stores for black people in the south, so Tucker always longed for an opportunity to try on wedding dresses. On her big day, Tucker had to wear a blue mermaid dress.
However, she expressed that she still looked dazzling. She said: “I thought I was looking real cute.” Still, the woman fantasized about her ideal wedding gown.

HER DREAM CAME TRUE
Finally, last year she went on a trip that was decades in the making—a trip to the bridal store! The entire experience was documented by her granddaughter, Erica Tucker, and it quickly gained a massive online reaction.
Tucker modeled several dresses in the clips with a big smile and a tiara on her head. One user called her “a true treasure indeed!” They added: “This story is much needed at a time like this!”

SHE FOUND THE PERFECT DRESS
Commenters also pointed out that Tucker looked great. One netizen stated: “Beautiful Lady. So sweet. I love that she had such a good time. It sounds like she raised wonderful kids that raised her wonderful grandkids. She’s a lucky lady.”
Tucker’s time in the store was heavenly. She saw many beautiful garments and had fun playing dress-up. She also found a stunning floral lace gown that “had her name on it.”

While she did not buy the dress, the moment was something Tucker would cherish forever. She added: “I looked in the mirror at myself, wanting to know who that is.”

SHE LOVED THE ATTENTION
Erica revealed that the family was stunned by the online reaction. She stated that while her grandmother did not understand what it meant “to go viral,” she loved all the attention she received.
The granddaughter said: “Please believe that all of this love has brightened her days! Now she’s just waiting for Steve Harvey or Tyler Perry to shout her out.”

ANOTHER GRANDMOTHER’S SPECIAL WEDDING DRESS
Last year another grandmother and granddaughter shared a special moment that went viral. They found her 65-year-old wedding dress, and TikToker Kate Petrik detailed the experience.
Netizens loved the grandmother’s reaction when she saw her granddaughter in the long-sleeved gown. Petrik will always treasure these moments with her gran, as will the Tucker grandchildren and the one-of-a-kind granny in their lives.
