Han So Hee has proven her acting range during her short career in film and television, which began with a small part in 2017’s “Jak-eun eom-ma.” She has appeared in several TV series but has yet to make her movie debut.

Born November 18, 1994, in Ulsan, South Korea, the actress played a lovelorn lyrist in the limited series “Soundtrack 1,” an evil yet still relatable mistress in “The World of the Married,” and a princess in “100 Days My Prince.”

So Hee has not had an off year since entering the entertainment industry and will be seen next in the historical action drama “Gyeongseong Creature” opposite Park Seo-joon and Claudia Kim.

Before having millions fall in love with him in “Nevertheless,” Song Kang was already a familiar face on Netflix, having played in “Navillera,” which was released three months prior in March 2021, and 2019’s “Love Alarm.”

More recently, the actor, whose social media following runs into the millions, portrayed a weatherman in “Meteorological Administration People: Office Romance Cruelty,” also available for streaming on Netflix.

Yu Na-bi, portrayed by So Hee, is the prototypical K-drama heroine. She has an outwardly meek personality, comes across as shy, and dresses conservatively in the series. However, a key point of her story aligns more with college dramas—she has an active sex life.

The South China Morning Post noted while “Nevertheless” did not find a big audience in its native Korea, it was a hit in many other territories, notably in many Muslim countries.

The paper hypothesized that the show hit a sweet spot by alluding to sexual conduct in a censor-friendly fashion. Another draw is Kang as the bad boy, Park Jae-eon. The actor is so famous on the platform he has been dubbed ‘Netflix’s son,’ per Lifestyle Asia.

Though subtle in its approach, the show does not dally around the subject of Na-bi’s sexual liaisons first with an older artist and casual fling with Park Jae-eon, a fellow art student.

However, her conservative society and personal insecurities lead to complications in her relationships, and she faces internal struggles to discover her true desires. In addition to her personal and romantic challenges, she also faces difficulties completing her art project.

With the help of Jae-eon, she overcomes obstacles and finds her self-expression. The symbolism of Na-bi’s name as a butterfly and her completed sculpture reflects her growth and earns her recognition and an opportunity to study in Paris.

A montage of sweet moments between the on-screen lovers and them lying in bed together has been watched over 1.6 million times since it was posted in mid-2021.

This couple will draw eyes to any content they co-star in, like the promotional video for Netflix Korea, where they show their comfortable interacting with each other as they complete a series of physical photo challenges.

Years after the 2021 release of “Nevertheless,” viewers treasure the parasocial relationships they have formed with characters and some of the more authentic relationships with others in the extensive Netflix fandom.

Viewers’ enjoyment of the two actors’ chemistry was not limited to the ten episodes on the international streamer. As one self-proclaimed ‘fangirl’ tweeted on the last day of 2021:

“One of my fangirl life highlights in 2021 has got to be going through the rest of the year with Song Kang & Han So Hee. From their ‘Nevertheless’ works, reading interviews, watching their CFs/brand works/shoots, and admiring edits. Lovely times!”

In a detailed Twitter thread, the fangirl wrote that she supports the actors as individuals and is “screaming” for them along with her new friends she made in the “N fandom.”

K-pop journalist Arpita Adhya was more direct in sharing her feelings about the lovers in her October 2021 tweet, “Give Song Kang and Han So Hee another [expletive] drama for humanity’s sake. “

A social media user theorized that it would “take many more years for these two to act another drama together again” and that they are “forever thankful” that they were paired in “Nevertheless.”

Another fan co-signed with a retweet, adding, “‘Nevertheless’ was made for Song Kang and Han So Hee only. It was meant for them.”

“Song Kang & Han So Hee’s chemistry was really unexpected for me. It’s too strong even in behind the scenes.,” another fan wrote, sharing behind-the-scenes clips to prove her point. She continued:

“You could feel the care and sweetness overload in bts. They keep smiling from ear to ear when they’re together that I really thought they’re dating for real. #Nevertheless”

The last mentioned social media user was not alone in her view that the actors were convincing in their on-screen romance. “I hope Song Kang and Han So Hee are dating IRL; they’re perfect,” one wrote.

A second shipper’ of the characters downright refused that the TV art students were not dating in real life, “their chemistry in those behind the scenes vids??? Hello???”

Is Song Kang dating Han So Hee off-screen? The chemistry between their fictional characters is dazzling, and their relationship off-screen looks friendly and respectful. Unfortunately, no confirmation in interviews or social media suggests they have more than a working relationship.
