Harry Meghan Are Hands-on Parents — Their Son’s Friends Do Not Know They Are Royalty, Claims Report

Duchess Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, are very active in raising their children, with the latter dropping and picking up one of their children from school. Little Archie, their son, is living a life that’s not linked to his royal heritage.

A year after Prince William became a married man when he tied the knot with Duchess Kate, his younger brother, Prince Harry, spoke to ABC News about having children. He confessed that he’d wanted children from a very young age. 

However, he explained that he was waiting for the right person to take the role. In May 2015, the Duke of Sussex spoke to Australia’s Sky News about his wish to become a parent.

The interview happened a week after Princess Charlotte, Harry’s niece’s birth. The uncle revealed that William sent him a photo of little Charlotte and one of the newborn with her older brother, Prince George, which Harry loved.

The Sky News reporter noted how good Harry was with children and wanted to know if he felt like settling down when he saw his brother’s family life. The Duke of Sussex acknowledged that it couldn’t be rushed and would happen when things were right. 

He admitted that he’d love to have children right then but knew there was a process he had to follow. Harry revealed he was keen on finding the right person to help him carry the pressures of royalty life. 

In May 2016, Harry broached the subject again with People magazine, confessing that he had moments when traveling abroad where he wished he’d had children already. Then other times, he contradicted himself, thinking:

“‘All right, don’t need kids!’ There’s no rush. I think . . . I tell you what: There’s been times I’ve been put off having children.”

During a past “Good Morning America,” Harry said his late mother, Princess Diana, was probably waiting for him to become a father so she could be a grandmother again. However, he thought she was proud of what he and William had achieved.

He noted how losing his mother at a young age, 12 for him and 15 for William, shaped his life. Harry now tried to give other people who’d experienced a loss like his advice and guidance.

HOW HARRY AND MEGHAN WELCOMED THEIR TWO CHILDREN

It was long before Harry’s wish of becoming a father came true. In November 2017, it was revealed that he was now engaged to Meghan Markle, whom he met the year before and had been dating for a year and a half.

When asked if they planned on growing their family any time soon, Harry said, “Not currently. No.” He noted how they were taking things a step at a time and would hopefully have additions to their family “in the near future.”

Their marriage occurred in May 2018, and seven months later, the couple shared that they were expecting their first child together! In July 2018, during a trip to Dublin, Elaine Adam-Stewart, a well-wisher, asked Harry when he would start having children with Meghan.

Adam-Stewart noted to Harry that they could have five children, but the royal jokingly replied, “five children?—too many. ” The couple welcomed their first child and son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, on May 6, 2019.

However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex didn’t introduce the little boy after Meghan gave birth as per royal tradition. When he was two days old, the world only got to see Archie in a photocall held in St George’s Hall in Windsor Castle.

During the March 2021 tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, the couple explained that the Royal Family didn’t ask them to take the picture. Archie was also not given a title and the safety and perks that came with it.

His mother said they were afraid of offering him up to the media when he didn’t have any security or guarantee of his safety. Usually, the happy royal couple would’ve posed for photos on the steps outside the hospital where their son was born. 

When William’s wife gave birth to their children, she posed with the newborns soon after. According to an alleged friend of the Duchess of Sussex, she’d “felt sorry” that the Duchess of Cambridge had to face the media after giving birth in make-up and heels!

The New York Times shared that Harry didn’t want a title for his son and opted for him to be Master Archie because he wanted the boy to grow up as a private citizen. The couple’s second child was welcomed in the US.

On June 4, 2021, Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born in California. Her first name was a nod to her great-grandmother, the Queen’s nickname, while her second one honored her late grandmother, Princess Diana.

RELOCATING TO THE US AND TAKING CHILDREN TO NORMAL SCHOOLS

After retiring from the senior royal roles in January 2020, Harry and Meghan relocated from the UK to Canada before settling in the US. The move was made because the couple wanted independence from the Royal Family. 

In April 2021, a source claimed Harry felt his move to California was the “best decision he’s ever made” and felt “liberated” by it. The royal had no regrets about starting a new life in Los Angeles with his wife.

While other celebrity children in their area generally went to All Saints by the Sea Episcopal School, the Sussexes went the non-traditional route. A parent of one of the children at Archie’s school said the little boy didn’t stand out and was “just one of them.”

The parent claimed the other children didn’t know or care that the little boy was of royal blood. The source also revealed how the Sussexes seemed to be raising their children, noting:

“Harry often drops Archie off and picks him up, and seems like a good dad.”

Gifty Enright, a parenting expert, alleged that Meghan and Harry’s children socialized with other kids, particularly James Corden’s brood. The Sussexes were good friends with Corden, who also lives in the Montecito suburb.

The couple wanted their children to be down-to-earth despite them being celebrities. Enright noted how the parents wanted their offspring to have normal childhoods and be as noble as possible. 

In 2018, a different source made similar claims revealing to ET that the couple wanted their children to have traditional upbringings as much as possible. Harry and Meghan wanted to pass on charitable and humanitarian values to their children. 

Not giving their children titles would also allow Archie and Lilibet to be shielded from public attention, and their parents could control their levels of exposure. In November 2021, Meghan appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” where she spoke about their children.

The royal shared how they once tried to do something “fun” for their children, but the duo was not having it! Archie hilariously only allowed himself to be dressed up as a dinosaur for less than five minutes!

Lilibet was dressed as an adorable skunk! In April 2022, Harry and his wife had crowds laughing at the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games when they revealed the son sometimes wanted to be a helicopter pilot and, on other days, an astronaut!

George Northwood, Meghan’s hairdresser, shared how Archie had grown to be quite “well-mannered” while his younger sister was “just beautiful.” Now that Harry’s fulfilled his wish to be a father, he’s really enjoying the role!

HARRY ON FATHERHOOD

In April 2022, the Duke of Sussex spoke to “Today” about what he loved about being a father. He said he enjoyed and loved all of it; the “chaos,” “the learning,” and how it was “a reminder of every element” of himself and his soul.

Meghan’s husband reiterated how he’d always wanted to be a father. While on Ellen DeGeneres’ show, the Duchess of Sussex revealed that her son had to adjust to having a younger sibling, stating what someone once said to them:

“Someone told H and I: ‘When you have one kid it’s a hobby, and two children is parenting.'”

It seems the Sussexes might be done having children now that they have two. In July 2019, while interviewing Dr. Jane Goodall for Vogue Magazine, Harry shared how he wanted to help preserve the environment by limiting the number of children he had.

He said even before having Archie, he’d decided to have only two. Meghan’s husband wished to leave a better world behind for his children and the next generation.
