Sofia Vergara was a teenage bride. Per People, the Colombian-born actor wed Joe Gonzalez when she was just 18 years old. They then welcomed their son, Manolo Gonzalez Vergara in 1991. Sofia was just 19 years old when she became a mother. The couple then split two years later, leaving Sofia to raise her son as a single mother. However, Manolo soon became Sofia’s motivation to reach her goals. She told Coveteur, “I was a single mother very early, and what made me wake up every day, what made me be responsible, was that I had the motivation that I needed to make money, to give my son all the things that I thought that he needed. A good education, a great college, good healthcare, to have money to send him abroad to get cultured — I wanted all those things for my son.”
Even though she was a teen mom, Sofia didn’t let that limit her potential for success. She achieved her career dreams and, in 2020, became the world’s highest-paid actress for her role in “Modern Family.” That year, she made $43 million, per Forbes. As for Manolo, it appears as if he’s also chasing his dreams, just like his mother. He is the founder of a dog’s clothing line, Canini by Baguette. Sofia gushed to Extra, “It’s amazing! I am super proud of him. … I love that he has the entrepreneur blood like me.”
